I think kishi made Karin the mother so he could make drama and drive the theme of genetics don't make family.

He has already done that, Sarada has just learned this lesson thanks to this drama, but what would be the point of it being true?
The speculation has already proved to be more than enough to provide the needed tension.
Karin actually being the mother at this point is unnecessary and simply over complicate's things

If Karin wasn't the mom the whole time then Kishi just wasted a whole bunch of time with this who is the mom drama.

It was a way to changer Sarada's thinking to what Sakura told her in the beginning. That her and Sarada are connected to Sasuke and each other via a strong bond. Stronger than what she believes are facts or the time that they have spent together.
Weren't you the one that said that there was a lesson in all this. having Karin not be the mother diminishe's nothing. In fact it actually strengthens the message by showing Sarada how much her parents love one another

We'll have to wait and see who is the mother in the end. I'm not a SK fan by any means nor do I actually want Karin to be the mom.
