In an attempt to divert attention from the rather horrid chapter today, I ask the community of Narutobase: who do you believe is the best written character in the series of Naruto? My vote is Kabuto, and I may elaborate if asked.

Madara, Gaara, Kakashi, and Killer Bee. There are more, but I see those are indeed the best.

No way. I am big fan of Itachi, but I don't think he is well written. I may elaborate it.

I vote for

1. Kabuto
2. Shikamaru
3. Temari

to be well written.

I find it rather subjective to name a best-written character, as all the criteria for choosing one easily become subjects of a personal preference.
For me, Obito, Nagato and Kabuto stand out as some of those best-written characters, along with the protagonist and the deuteragonist of the story.

Kabuto is quite possibly the most tragic character in the manga. Danzō was also very well written.

Kabuto is quite possibly the most tragic character in the manga.

This. He went through about two years just attempting to craft an identity, to have it destroyed in one night; Orochimaru took advantage of his weakness and molded a persona for him that fit to his advantage, and yet when Orochimaru himself was out of the picture Kabuto decided to take the persona of his superior: the more power he gained, the faster his cocky, arrogant persona cracked away to show the unstable person below.

Just my views on the matter.

And the lines he said were wonderful. For all his incredible power, it still could not fill the void in his heart. He acted arrogant and cocky, but that was a front. Deep, deep down he was in agony. And I love that.
"A mistake...? What of the things I've done... is a mistake? I just wanted someone... To notice me! To accept me! To love me!! How is that a mistake?!" Beautiful line.
