Which is the best Wonder weapon of all time? Wunderwaffe, Thundergun, Raygun, Winter's Howl, or Wave Gun?
I think it's either Thundergun or Wunderwaffe
A rather late note about the Thundergun vs. Wunderwaffe DG-2 thing, but better late than never.
The Thundergun has less ammo than the Wunderwaffe, and is therefore suited toward either killing large numbers of zombies in an extreme close quarters emergency where you need to unload a gun straight away and accuracy is the least of your concerns or being used on groups of zombies who happen to down a buddy and go for you (I play solo, so I take this tip from my friend who happens to be a Thundernut who has it as his signature weapon to an almost obsessive point.). The Thundergun also only makes 300 points for one zombie initally, and the effect degrades over time because you could literally abuse the thundergun, make a massive group, then blast them all away and get thousands of points if the weapon was counted as a bullet type weapon. It also does only 15 damage points, equal to the M1911, against zombies at medium to long ranges, but is infinite damage at close range and does no damage to you or your allies whatsover. Best used as emergency with a large group weapon, or if you need to revive a buddy and the swarm is going for you. It could be used as a support weapon, but considering the ammo amount, not very wise if there are only 3 guys left, best used if you can get all the zombies to bunch up while your allies handle the rest of them.
The Wunderwaffe has been around a lot longer than the ThunderWunder, as my aforementioned friend calls it, and therefore probably has had more time to become popular with the community. The DG-2 has some massive weaknesses which bring it down however, the ammo count is not significantly higher than the Thundergun, and therefore is also best reserved for emergencies. The blast also can shock you, and in WAW this would be serious as it neutralizes your Jug and you have to buy it again assuming you don't get downed/killed outright by the blast and the resulting zombie counter-attack should you miss. Black Ops migitated this, as your Jug doesn't get neutralized by the blast, but it still stuns you to an unacceptable point. The reload is also quite long, at six seconds, but seeing as some fine chap invented reload cancelling, you can finish reloading in half the time if reload cancelling is utilitized or should you have Speed Cola. The iron sights are also rather odd, so some players tend not to look down them. Thankfully they aren't misaligned like some other weapons in the series (MG4, Springfield, USP.45, MW2 Deagle...) And finally, the recoil. The Thundergun does not have much recoil, and anyway, the blast is so powerful that any recoil is basically migitated as you just have to point in the general direction and expect to hit something when you fire, but the DG-2 could miss, and it's a waste of enormous potential if you miss, as it is normally 10 zombies per blast at the best, so theoretically provided you don't miss and have an abundant supply of zombies, 180 zombies could be neutralized without any hassle, 240 if Pack a Punched. Considering it all, the two weapons are rivals, equal in power and worth, and are truly wonders to behold on the battlefield, and certainly deadly, but you have to adopt a certain mind and skill to use the weapons. The Thundergun is a closequarters suited weapon and is very user friendly, and is easy for even the beginners to use against the zombie hordes you fight, and the WunderWaffe is a long range suited weapon as it can kill zombies at ranges where the Thundergun would just stun them or become useless alltogether. However, as both weapons do not appear on the exact same map, you cannot utilitize both and compare them in the same situation. So therefore, it is a little hard to compare them, but the Thundergun is best used at close ranges or when an ally is taken down and needs your help, and the WunderWaffe is more suited to offensive tactics such as rushing the zombies or taking them head on because you know your allies need time to set up a defense or revive each other. Personal preference is required here, but it could be put down to this sentence: Use the Thundergun when the situation gives it an opportunity to shine, and use the Wunderwaffe in a situation where it can shine.
I have always seen the Wunderwaffe as the most powerful Wonder Weapon (which in all honesty, it is. It surpasses the Wave Gun by the ability to hurt you too). My views on this comparison is simply a manner of playing style. The Wunderwaffe is a Co-Op orientated weapon, the only maps in which is useful on solo is the Black Ops versions of Shi No Numa and Call of the Dead. On Der Riese, it is practically useless upgraded in Black Ops, so I won't go into detail about how it became the Wunderfail. In World at War, the Wunderwaffe weakened you, Treyarch did this on purpose. The weapon is designed for teamwork, you need those two people with the MG42 and the Browning to cover you whilst you do your stuff. The Wunderwaffe is also capable of killing Zombies around corners and it requires some form of accuracy. The Wunderwaffe, in my opinion, is the definition of what Zombies is supposed to be: teamwork!
The Thundergun, on the other hand, is very solo orientated and it is well designed to suit the Black Ops theme which is brought into Zombies. If you look at the Thundergun in Nacht der Untoten, it's practically near-useless. The gun is designed for Solo, in which you can gather large groups of Zombies and make them form a neat little lign to blast them all to the ceiling or SSSSPPPPAAAACCCCEEEEEEE!!!!. In Co-Op, the Thundergun loses it's appeal, Zombies will target your friends (which is blessing otherwise), many corners make Zombies immune to the gun. It's range is also quite terrible, knocking many Zombies back with zero damage.
