I've read before that Madara might lose control of Mokuton (in this case Senpou Mokuton) turning him into a tree kinda like what happened to Danzo, Hashirama might sacrifice himself to make Madara's Mokuton go haywire turning them both into two gigantic trees that watches over the Shinobi World.
