Who do you think it is? Don't only consider how they taught techniques but also ninja philosophy.

Some obvious top picks:

Jiraiya - Naruto, Minato, Nagato (2 learned to use huge inner powers, 1 became a genius)

Sarutobi Hiruzen - Jiraiya, Orochimaru, Tsunade (the freaking Legendary Sannin)

Orochimaru - Sasuke, Kabuto, Sound Ninjas (seemingly a more innovative group)

Kakashi - Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura (Taught Naruto the concept of elemental jutsu, taught Sasuke the original Chidori and Sharigan basics, trained all three in basic chakra control)

Other notables:

Sarutobi Asuma - Taught the Ino-Shika-Cho Team and though they aren't the strongest individually, definitely one of the most strategic teams.

Minato - Obviously had a lasting effect on Kakashi in terms of philosophy AND jutsu, Also was very good to Obito until he went f'in nuts.

Tobirama - Hiruzen, Danzo (thank you God Itachi)

Holy crap - first three were all killed/defeated fighting one of those students.

Kakashi, everyone else's students pretty much died lmao not only that but he taught Naruto and Sasuke about teamwork which both have used to survive pretty much the whole story

Nagato and Naruto can both solo all of the Sannin, sorry m8 they're just not up there.

I definitely agree with that. But that's mostly a difference of raw power. The Sannin are all just as skilled in my opinion. Putting any regular skilled ninja against a skilled ninja with Kyubi or Rinnegan isn't much of a fight

J-man just seems to have the golden touch... everything he touches becomes gold. All his pupils have become top-tier shinobi. If you measure a teacher by the quality of his students, then I'd say Jiraiya takes this one, followed closely by Hiruzen.

The more I think about, the more obito pisses me off. He really screwed over Minato

The more I thought about this the clearer my answer became. J-Man gets the trophy. First he trained Minato who became a Hokage and genuis. Then he trained Nagato, although tainted by the ideas of Obito, was a very formidable shinobi. Most importantly he is the one person who worked with Naruto directly the longest and put the idea in Naruto's head that he is basically the savior of the shinobi world.

Also if it weren't for him Naruto wouldn't have acquired sage mode because he wouldn't even know the frogs.

In terms of skill, Minato and Nagato are above them. Naruto... not so much.

But, overall I believe Jiraiya is the only teacher who truly bonded to their student; Kakashi hardly taught Naruto and Sakura, Minato let Rin/Obito die, Hiruzen couldn't stop Oro's sick ways etc.

That is a big reason why he is #1 in my book.

I totally agree but have to play devils advocate cause I started the thread

Naruto's resolve was already 100% so Tsunade could have even taught him the chakra control he needed, Nagato had the Rinnegan and didn't use Jiraiya's philosophy or jutsu in the long run. Minato was a genius with or without Jiraiya and created his best techniques on his own.

On the other hand. Hiruzen taught 3 pupils who probably started off with no special abilities and turned them into 3 of the best ninjas in history. Also he taught the group with the most diverse range of abilities, mirroring his own extreme range of abilities.... Again just presenting an alternate view

Jiraiya had natural talented students such as Minato & Nagato. Naruto is also an exception because of the 9 tails. To me, Guy sensei is the best sensei. Why?

He teaches his students to never give up and always train no matter how talented you may be. He tells his students that even the lousiest ninja can become the most fulfilled ninja through hard work and determination. The most effective sensei is Kakashi because he always puts his life ahead of others, even if they're not his own students, he puts the village/new generation first no matter what situation he's in.

Kakashi, Guy, Minato, Hiruzen & Jiraiya are all great sensei's

I honestly think it is Might Guy. He taught them all a life philosophy to not give up and to keep progressing each day. He is by the most inspiring sensei in Naruto anyway.

Kakashi really didn't teach them all too much outside of the first arc and was too late to retrieve Sasuke and rescue Naruto so he's hardly the best sensei ever.

Jiraiya, Hiruzen and Guy.
J-man and Hiruzen raised high rank ninjas.
Guy made Lee someone among most of his peers and a shinobi who never gives up. Neji became a jounin in a young age.
