It is harder to write lyrics to sing then it is speak. Sung lyrics are more bound to a melody and is not as free flowing as the spoken word. With rap, you can fit more content and context. With "rock" there is also writing the accompanying music. The lyrics are part of the song. Song writers can be considered lyricists or poets, but there are fewer rappers that can be considered songwriters. That's why rappers have producers so they can concentrate on their rhymes.
