So out of different variants of poison usage in combat those are the most distinct/prominent (feel free to add more info here, as usual I'm tired and might miss something):
Sasori's use:
Advantages:
- His poison is spread all over his weapons and even iron sand constructs, so there's a big chance of contact;
- His poison is unique and it is hard to extract it and create the antidote.
Disadvantages:
- It takes some time to kill victims, meaning they do have some chance of being cured;
- There *is* a chance to dodge his weapons (and even poison clouds).
Torune's nanobugs:
Advantages:
- They seem to act quickly and can probably kill in less than a minute;
- Only Torune (and his father) had the antidote. And poison kills victim quickly enough, leaving no time to research and create and antidote.
Disadvantages:
- They can only transferred by touch (not counting filler but even there he couldn't just spread them around easily);
- You can tear off a poisoned body part to survive, they don't affect the whole body at once.
Hanzo/Ibuse's usage:
Advantages:
- Poison spreads through air, and Ibuse can create a fairly large cloud. So, a good chance of hitting the opponent;
Disadvantages:
- It can be countered with a breathing mask;
- Also like Sasori's poison it doesn't kill immediately. And Kankuro and co. were seemingly cured quickly from it.
So basically we have poison that has high probability of actually reaching the target but doesn't kill quickly and the opposite. We've also seen minor/non-combat uses of poison. Which uses do you think are the best? Which would you use? Come up with some new ways to use poison if you want.
