I like the taijustu combo, but they are open to long range such as Shino or shikamaru, whom neither can be defended by Neji's rotation

But for reals, it would be Butterfly Choji and Rock Lee. They're not really best friends (like Choji and Shikamaru), but strength wise, they can probably do pretty well against a tough enemy. Not Akatsuki level enemy, but they might survive long enough against them.

sakura & shikamaru...shikamaru could catch people with the shadow possession jutsu while trapped with that sakura could pummel them with her strength and if shikamaru got hit with anything sakura could heal him

Nah I think Neji can defend against Shino & Shikamaru... Lee can just get up close with his insane speed.

I know there are more balanced ones i just liked the taijutsu team lol.

BS, they've been shown to work together extremely well throughout the entire series. They're best buds and they're two thirds of the most dynamic three man team, Ino-Shika-Cho!

If Lee and Shikamaru had some time together. I bet Lee would be a great replacement for Choji. I'm gonna cite the Hidan incident where Choji lost himself, although Ina-Shika-Cho worked during the war arc, I think Lee would be good with shika.
