You are going nowhere, and you have failed to somehow understand what I'm trying to say. I know what you're trying to tell me, that Lebron is the only player capable of defending all 5 positions on an elite level NOW.

Problem is, you never specified it on your premier post.

Lebron's versatility on defense allows him to guard positions 1-5, no other player can do that.

I said there were a lot more players who could do that in their prime, then you tell me that I failed since those players I mentioned didn't defend superstars, nor are they superstars, or are playing at a superstar level.

I extrapolated the meaning of prime, and you still refused to understand. It's like the concept of a Prime Magic Johnson, a Prime Shawn Marion, a Prime Boris Diaw was lost. Magic wasn't just doing help defense, he was outright doing it 1v1, he was just a passive defender in his later years since he had AIDS. Marion was defending everyone Nash and Amare couldn't. Diaw defended even at center when Amare and Kurt Thomas were injured. Stephen Jackson took care of the superstars, since the only defensive player on GS besides him was Baron Davis.

In short, they all defended superstars from 1 to 5, whether they were successful or not, just like what Lebron is doing.

I mean, I know Lebron could do all that, I was just telling you that him being the ONLY player to do that in history is wrong. Don't eat your words now, your quote is up there. If you're talking current then maybe Melo, since he has the physical skill to keep up with almost everyone.

Now we are getting somewhere. I know I didn’t specify and that was my mistake but I did specify in the next post I replied to you.

When I said even prime current players and you listed the players that you thought could do that, I understood that you meant their prime against the specific time of elite players. I remember like it was yesterday Marion playing for the suns when he really was “the matrix”, KG putting people on lock back in his Wolves playing days, Stephen Jackson playing against the heavily favored Mavs in the playoffs back in the day. All 3 of those players had great defense and still have good defense till this day.

Marion could legitimately guard elite players positions 2-4: he could also guard 1’s but not at the level in which he guarded 2-4(sg,sf,pf) but center I didn’t really see him play defense against elite level players at that position like he did the others.

Stephen Jackson could legitimately guard elite level players at positions 2-4 like Marion: he could guard 1’s too but imo not at the level in which he did at the positions I listed. Same thing with Marion, guarding center was the biggest problem.

KG could legitimately guard elite level players at each position (3-5) but 1’s were huge problems for him and most 2’s.

All I saying is that those players at their prime imo didn’t guard each position at the same elite level. I’m not saying it has never happened before because it has. The only problem I had with you is that when you said “Many players throughout history can do that” in response to the quote you just quoted. When I read the word many I get the idea that a lot of players could guard each position at a elite level which is false. That is not a common thing for players to have the capabilities to do that. I agree some players throughout history could do that but not many.

I have watched LeBron play since his senior year in high school: I have seen his defense improve dramatically since then. All I was saying is that currently he can guard each position at an elite level better than any other active player that I have seen even when that current player was in their prime. I’m not saying that they couldn’t guard each position at somewhat of a good level but not an elite level imo.

Also I don’t like being called a LeBron fanboy, there is a lot of Lebron haters out there in which I am willing argue with anyone who say some haterish type of things. I criticize some of the decisions he has made and even his play on the court when he doesn’t play at the level I know he can but in no way shape or form am I a LeBron fanboy, I’m just a no-nonsense for hating/loyal fan. I hate all fanboys

EDIT: btw i am sticking to what i said to you earlier. When you said "don't eat your words, your quote is up there": i want to remind you that the quote was in response to rasenkirin and when you first quoted me i made it clear that i didn't think he was the only one capable to do that throughout history, i made it clear to you that i was talking about current players even in their prime in my first reply back to you and the others.

Lebron james, hands down.

FIrstly, know that I hate the miami heat almost as much as I hate the boston red sox(huge yankees fan), I hate lebron as well. However, he is without a doubt currently the best basketball player in this day of age, for starters, whenever he wants to, regardless of the team he's playing or who is defending him, lebron can score in the NBA, whenever he wants! If he's determined to put the ball in the hoop he will, and although everyone else mentioned on that list can do it too, no one can do it as good as lebron. He may be a choke in the 4th quarter, but as far as overall talent is concerned it is definitely Lebron. If you are referring to player, not talent but player, as in the ability to play with other people on your team, and extremely clutch in the 4th quarter, plays good defense, and so on, the real attributes of a PLAYER, not just talent, then I think it would go to kevin durant, tima and time again he's been clutch in the 4th quarter, and he is definitely top 5 talent, 3 in my book anyway.
