I am a big sports fan. So let me compare this idea of erroneously deducing something over-generalized from surface statistics to doing the same in basketball:

In basketball, Dwight Howard has a better 3 point percentage than even Steph Curry. Yes that's correct. In fact, most centers in the NBA have better 3 point percentages than guards.

Can I safely deduce that Centers are better three point shooters than guards?

NO!!

Because you have to look deeper, and stop over-depending on surface stats. If you look deeper you will see that Dwight Howard, while shooting 50% from the three point line (compared to Steph Curry's 43%), only took 2 three point shots! While Curry took well over 300!!

So, you cannot simply take surface stats and infer something so broad such as "women are paid less than men for the same job."

that 79 cents number comes from overall pay, not actually comparing men and women head to head in the same jobs with the same experience. The reason men make more overall is because they choose to go into higher paying fields such as math and science more often than women(even though women are heavily recruited for these positions)

I agree. If 2 people sign up for the same job, do the same thing & wok the same hours they get paid the same. Period.
They're using career choice to boil other people's blood & it just gets on my nerves.
