I always labelled childish by people around me. My mom, my big brother, my uncle, cousin and also my boyfriend call me like that. But I just ignore what they said. I grow up with anime. My first anime is tomatoman and doraemon which broadcasted on tv. After that dragon ball, sailormon and many more. After my age 25 I drop all anime and manga and only naruto I still watch and read. I think after naruto finish I think I can free from anime but not when boruto manga start. I don’t know why naruto so strong in my heart.

Did u all have same situation?

Not really. I would just get called a nerd which never bothered me. I don't watch anime as much anymore though since it's nearly the same shit every season, but I still read manga regularly (and depending on whether or not they have an adaptation I may watch). As for Naruto being strong in your heart, it's probably because you grew up with it like most of us, so it's a bit easier to digest.

Watching anime is practically mainstream now (at least in the U.S). I don't even remember ever being teased about it in the past lol

They just don't what it's like cause they don't watch and most people think that anything animated is only for children so don't sweat it

It is considered childish to a lot of people but fuck it, If you enjoy watching it then keep watching it.

You shouldn't care about what others think of what you enjoy. The reason why most people label anime as "childish" to begin with is because either they associate anime in general as childrens cartoons without actually being able to comprehend that most anime deal with quite mature content more fit for adults, or because they remember seeing some anime show as a kid without ever watching it and associate their childhood memories with anime as a whole and assume all anime is for kids.

Regardless of how mainstream it is and where, at the end of the day if you enjoy it then f*ck what everyone else thinks. I personally don't care at all for sports - but the real double standard here is that if I tried to criticize someone for watching sports I would be the weird one for not also enjoying it. So f*ck it. Let yourself enjoy what you enjoy.

I think anime is a little different than typical cartoons that are meant for kids.

People who aren’t familiar with Anime just see it as cartoons so they’d assume it’s a childish show

Well I have my own spot so I don't have to worry about that. I keep it on the low with the homies because it is some childish ass shit but I'm still immature a bit apparently, as long as I still get *****es. But the themes and way a lot characters act is immature, the "cool" or "badass" character is usually the most mature acting. So many high school settings. I'm really gonna stop ****ing with it after Attack on Titan is over, I'll definitely get chopped up if any of my friends knew I was posting on a Naruto site right now, like they win everything through friendship. I don't know if it gets more immature than that...Probably does.

If they dismiss your passion, it is them being childish.

Only my mom is like that. My dad is okey with it, my brother actually watches anime and my best friends do too.

You should make them watch an anime that isn't aimed at kids so they can change their opinion. I highly recommend Monster and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni.

I know a lot of adults (I mean over 30's, and one of them is a cop) who watch anime, discus it at their work, and it's not considered childish at all.
