I normally use Photoshop, but GIMP is usually what beginners start with. I'm not too much of an expert on GIMP, but I do know some things that can help beginners.

Wow this is good, can you provide a link to some c4d downloads, all mine dont look like that and id like some new ones that are more bold, also you didn't add a step on how to make the render the background as well >_>

Just search for c4d packs on Deviantart. This guy below is pretty good.

Also, I thought it was obvious how to do it. Just enlarge the render and use a Gaussian blur.

Nice tut it will certainly help begginers the only problem i have is finding good C4ds
