The Beasts of Tiamat

Born at the outbreak of the Great War between Marduk, Enlil, Nergal, and Inanna against their mother Tiamat and sibling Kingu, the Beasts of Tiamat are the Goddess of Life’s original children. The Beasts of Tiamat are not gods in their own right, being more comparable to that of Demigods with their own unique Divinities. The original Beasts were not vast in number, the very first created as prototypes by Tiamat. They included the [CLASSIFIED], [CLASSIFIED], the Basmu, and the [CLASSIFIED]. With refinement Tiamat eventually came to create the [CLASSIFIED]. In a sense these Beasts are monsters similar to that of Hagoromo’s own Bijuu, exhibiting extraordinary powers and abilities far beyond that of the realm of humans with their Divinity rather than Chakra. While not many exist today, each Beast is fiercely loyal to Tiamat.

As they are not creations of Chakra and do not wield its power, the Beasts of Tiamat derive their strength from their own Divinity. This Divinity establishes Authority over a specific type of field or skill, some broader or more nuanced than others. These Authorities are collectively known as the Genesis Seal: Rot, War, Arcane, Forbidden Knowledge, and Primordium. Many of these Beasts were wiped out in the Great War, leaving only a few remaining on the planet. Though many have gone into hiding or have been captured in some capacity. It is possible to seal a Beast of Tiamat into a host through advanced techniques identical to the sealing techniques used to lock a Bijuu into its host. Those who serve hosts, willingly or not, use their Divinity to empower them. For instance, the [CLASSIFIED] is infamously regarded as the Beast of Genjutsu by some circles. But he uses no Genjutsu in his own skillset, rather his Divinity empowers the Genjutsu of its host and uses potent bioorganic substances and poisons to kill and rot his foes.

Shared Abilities and Restrictions
  • Each of the Beasts of Tiamat are immune to non-Doujutsu Genjutsu. Their vessel can be trapped in Genjutsu but their Beast will automatically free them from it unless it is a Mangekyou Sharingan or higher level Genjutsu.
  • Like the Tailed Beasts, the Beasts of Tiamat have a series of transformations that are achieved as the user strengthens their connection with the Beast and unlocks its abilities. These vary by Beast and one’s progression in their Beast Mastery and are referred to as "Ascensions."
  • They are able to seamlessly communicate with their vessel through mental link, though the beasts’ willingness to communicate varies depending on the level of the vessel’s respect and their Mastery.
  • To obtain a Beast that is already owned you will first need to defeat the current owner in either the Battle Arena or Ninja World and then test for the ability yourself.
  • One must be at least Jounin Rank to be eligible for a Beast of Tiamat.
  • A Beast of Tiamat’s abilities, unless specifically stated, can interact with Divinity and pierce it. This has no special interaction with Anutu.
  • There can only be a single host for each Beast of Tiamat at any given time.
  • A Beast of Tiamat is considered a Tier 5 biography. One cannot possess a separate Skill Mastery on a Beast of Tiamat host. Beasts of Tiamat cannot be sealed in Tier 5 Biographies.

Genesis Seal Masteries

Intrinsic Skill (I-II): A Beast’s Intrinsic Skill is an ability inherent to them, shared among all three of the Beast’s paths. Their Intrinsic Skill is typically a defining trait of the Beast and collectively form the Genesis Seal. Their Intrinsic Skill is the first ability that must be unlocked before pursuing any of the Natural Enhancements. The Intrinsic Skill (Tier I) is unlocked after completing either three Official Battles in the Battle Arena or Ninja World, or six B-Rank missions in the Ninja World. Tier II is unlocked automatically when the host completes one of the three Paths.

Natural Enhancements (I-III): Each Beast of Tiamat has a series of three Natural Enhancements that can be unlocked once Tier I of the Intrinsic Skill is unlocked. These enhancements are typically passive bonuses shared between all three Paths. They are unlockable parallel to the paths, meaning they do not have to be done in any particular order or done before a path is advanced. They simply need to have Tier I of the Intrinsic Skill.

Tier I: Unlockable once Tier I of the Intrinsic Skill is achieved. Requires completion of three A-Rank missions in the Ninja World or a single Official battle.
Tier II. Unlocked after completing three S-Rank Ninja World missions or two Official battles.
Tier III. Unlocked after completing seven S-Rank missions in the Ninja World or three Official battles.

Path Abilities: Can be unlocked once the host has achieved their Intrinsic Skill. Each host can only possess a single path. Path Abilities consist of three unique paths that the Host can unlock over time and represent a deepening bond between the user and their Beast. There are a number of enhancements in this path and they typically are distinct between each Beast but still play a role in defining the Genesis Seal. Entries marked as “Path Ability” are unique to each Beast, while entries that are marked as Deepened Connection or Strengthened Bond are shared across all five.

Deepened Connection I: The host’s connection with their Beast of Tiamat deepens, bonding them. The Beast of Tiamat will begin speaking to the host, albeit his communication is typically short and it is one-sided. The user becomes able to access certain techniques. Requires the user complete a single C-Rank mission.

Path Ability I: A Path Ability unique to each specific Beast. Requires the user complete two B-Rank missions.

Strengthened Bond I: The host’s bond is strengthened with their Beast. The host becomes able to access the beast’s basic transformation. Requires the user complete four C-Rank missions and two B-Rank missions.

Path Ability II: A Path Ability unique to each specific Beast. Requires the user complete four B-Rank missions.

Deepened Connection II: The host’s connection with their beast of Tiamat deepens further. The Beast of Tiamat will speak on neutral terms with the host. The user becomes able to access additional techniques that require higher levels of Deepened Connection. Requires the user complete two C-Rank missions and two B-Rank missions.

Path Ability III: A Path Ability unique to each specific Beast. Requires the user complete six A-Rank missions or two Official Battles.

Strengthened Bond II: The host’s bond is strengthened with their Beast. The host becomes able to access the beast’s advanced transformation. In addition to this the user’s basic transformation also lasts an additional turn. Requires the user to complete three Official Battles.

Path Ability IV: A Path Ability unique to each specific Beast. Requires the user complete five S-Rank missions.

Deepened Connection III: The host’s connection with their beast deepens to a point of kinship. The Beast of Tiamat will speak on friendly terms with the host. The user becomes able to access the most advanced techniques that require this level of connection. Requires the user complete five S-Rank missions and three Official Battles.

Strengthened Bond III: The host’s bond is strengthened with their Beast. The host becomes able to access the beast’s complete transformation. In addition to this the user’s advanced transformation can be used a second time. Requires the user to complete five Official Battles and nine S-Rank missions.

Path Ability V: A Path Ability unique to each specific Beast. Requires the user complete nine S-Rank missions and three Official Battles.

Bašmu, Beast of Rot

You must be registered for see images

The Bašmu has gone by many names: the Beast of Genjutsu, Godslayer, the Red Death, God of Decay, Claw of Night, the Scarlet Curse, and the list goes on. But none compare to its epithet Beast of Rot. Of the Five Beasts of Tiamat that make up the Genesis Seal it was born as the third. Yet its type was also the least that was formed from the Primordial Salt Sea, making it, even at its peak, the rarest Beast-type in her army. The Bašmu (lit. “Venomous Snake”) is a titanic horned serpent roughly twice the size of Manda. Unique to it are the pair of orange and red wings across its back, proportional in size that allow the Beast to fly. It is a terrifying force to face on land because of its ability to fly and behemoth size. For thousands of years it has hidden itself in the Kaizoku Sea.

The Bašmu’s Divinity is manifested over a substance it produces naturally known as the Scarlet Rot. This ability, classified as a Kekkei Genkai on its own, has earned the Bašmu its many epithet. Most infamously the Scarlet Rot was weaponized to poison Marduk’s Pantheon, granting it the title ‘Godslayer.’ The Scarlet Rot is a frighteningly powerful tool, able to eat away at the life force of its victims as nutrients to bloom again into new lifeforms, not dissimilar to Tiamat’s own Authority over the Sea of Life. Exposure to the Scarlet Rot can infest its targets, spreading its curse, tampering with their memories, and blooming new life for the Bašmu to control. The Bašmu, and by extension its host, are considered Advanced Users of Scarlet Rot. Thus, the Bašmu possesses three different paths which extend the Scarlet Rot’s capabilities: Godsbane, Bloom, and Dreamer.

By nature the Bašmu's personality is deceptive. He relishes watching his foes struggle to persist against the Scarlet Rot. He is highly loyal to his mother Tiamat and will resist any who imprison him within their body to take on the role of a host. He is not quick to anger though but is far from friendly or talkative, preferring to remain silent and use what little he says to confuse, mislead, and manipulate.

Bašmu, Beast of Rot Mastery

Intrinsic Skill (I-II): Unlocks the host’s ability to use the Scarlet Rot, a dangerous bioorganic substance that is produced naturally by the Basmu from its Authority. Of the Genesis Seal it is considered the defining trait of the Beast of Rot. Tier I unlocks the user’s ability to use all of the Scarlet Rot’s techniques and the advanced capabilities, like the percentage health degenerative effect. Tier II enhances all Scarlet Rot techniques by an additional 30 damage, with the exception of the damage over time effect that Scarlet Rot naturally provides. The Intrinsic Skill (Tier I) is unlocked after completing either three Official Battles in the Battle Arena or Ninja World, or six B-Rank missions in the Ninja World. Tier II is unlocked automatically when the host completes one of the three Paths.

Natural Enhancements (I-III): The following Natural Enhancements are passive benefits shared between each of the three Beast paths. They are unlockable parallel to the paths, meaning they do not have to be in any particular order. They simply need to have Tier I of the Intrinsic Skill.

Beast’s Constitution (I-III): Enhanced physical vitality as a descendant of the Goddess of Life. Increases the host’s, or Basmu’s, maximum Health Points by 30/50/70. Does not stack with other sources of Health Point enhancements but is also not negated by the Curse of Scarlet Rot.

Rotten Alacrity (I-III): Augments the speed of the user’s Scarlet Rot techniques. Increases the base speed of Scarlet Rot techniques by 1/3/5 base levels.

Defenestration of the Gods (I-III): Tier I allows the host’s Scarlet Rot techniques to naturally penetrate Divinity. Tier II increases the required Chakra to seal or absorb Scarlet Rot techniques by an additional 10 points. Tier III reduces the damage reduction provided by victim’s using Fire-based techniques to burn the Rot from their bodies from 50% to 25%.

The Basmu has three Paths available to it: Godsbane, Bloom, and Dreamer.

Godsbane
“It is said that even the most beautiful goddesses were not spared the Rot, their glorious beauty withered to rotten horror.”

Deepened Connection I: The host’s connection with their Beast of Tiamat deepens, bonding them. The Beast of Tiamat will begin speaking to the host, albeit his communication is typically short and it is one-sided and follows what is outlined in the Beast’s description. The user becomes able to access certain techniques. Requires the user complete a single C-Rank mission.

Putrid Arsenal (Passive): Passively enhances the user’s Taijutsu, Kenjutsu, and melee-based Bukijutsu. These weapons will, when in direct contact with the user, be infused with substantial amounts of Scarlet Rot and able to, on contact, afflict them with the curse. This does not strengthen Scarlet Rot or its damage over time. Requires the user complete two B-Rank missions.

Strengthened Bond I: The host’s bond is strengthened with their Beast. The host becomes able to access the beast’s basic transformation. Requires the user complete four C-Rank missions and two B-Rank missions.

The Unalloyed Needle (Active): A technique designed by the first unwilling host of the Basmu, made out of forced cooperation with the Beast. The Unalloyed Needle was developed for the intent of protecting one’s allies, stopping the spread of Scarlet Rot should they be inadvertently afflicted with it by the host of the Basmu. Because of this it possesses a secondary application: sealing the Scarlet Rot from those that are not advanced users. The Unalloyed Needle must be physically inserted into the target to either prevent the Rot’s spread, stopping its damage, and sealing it off from usage. The Needle itself is a small golden needle the size of a toothpick. It is carried as if one was carrying Kunai.

Contamination (Passive): The user’s Scarlet Rot techniques are enhanced to become able to contaminate any liquid source they come in contact with regardless of rank, Chakra, or damage. Contamination causes the original user to lose control of the technique or what might remain of the technique (i.e. water). The host of the Basmu may take control these new sources if their original technique came out ahead in the clash.

Strengthened Bond II: The host’s bond is strengthened with their Beast. The host becomes able to access the beast’s advanced transformation. In addition to this the user’s basic transformation also lasts an additional turn. Requires the user to complete three Official Battles.

Putrescent Ascension (Passive): For each target afflicted with Contamination of infection by the Scarlet Rot the user will gain an additional 10 bonus damage and 5 passive healing per turn. This can stack up to three times and lasts until targets either die or are cured of their affliction.

Miquella’s Needle (Passive/Active): A technique derived from the Scarlet Rot’s characteristic to Bloom. Miquella’s Needle is a passive technique imbued into the user’s very flesh, much like the Unalloyed Needle. While inactive the Needle will provide the user with Status Resistance, reducing the effects of any turn-based debilitating effects by 1 turn. When the user is afflicted with one such technique they can activate the Needle, deactivating its Status Resistance effect to instead unleash an explosion of Scarlet Rot in a massive long-range radius around them. It is an indiscriminate blast of Rot that inflicts, at base, 130 damage. This technique can be used twice per battle, once every six turns.

Bloom
“The Scarlet bloom flowers once more.”

Flowering Death (Active): This is the basic technique that the host of the Basmu or the Basmu uses to control the life that blooms from the Scarlet Rot. Similar to Wood Release this can control sources of Scarlet Rot-produced life, but does not create it on its own. This technique manipulates existing lifeforms similar to how Wood Release would extend and manipulate branches or roots however it strictly works on Scarlet Rot lifeforms. It inflicts 80 damage, costs 40 Chakra, and has a long-range reach. It can be used every other turn.

Strengthened Bond I: The host’s bond is strengthened with their Beast. The host becomes able to access the beast’s basic transformation. Requires the user complete four C-Rank missions and two B-Rank missions.

Robust Life (Passive): This passive enhancement is applied to all sources of life that the user inadvertently creates through flowered Scarlet Rot. Robust Life grants these sources of life resistances equivalent to the rank of the Scarlet Rot technique that created them. If they are later used with Flowering Death then they will adopt the damage value of Flowering Death instead.

Spreading Infestation (Active): This technique is similar to Flowering Death in that it manipulates the roots of preexisting Scarlet Rot life. However, instead of being used simply to attack or defend, Spreading Infestation uses the roots to grow into the ground. These roots achieve two objectives; the first is to infest small lifeforms with Scarlet Rot. Their quick deaths cause small Scarlet plant life to appear on the surface where they were. When the manipulated roots emerge from the ground they too will bloom, releasing small clouds of Scarlet Rot that encompass short-range from their position. This can be used three times per battle.

Strengthened Bond II: The host’s bond is strengthened with their Beast. The host becomes able to access the beast’s advanced transformation. In addition to this the user’s basic transformation also lasts an additional turn. Requires the user to complete three Official Battles.

Spinal Ejection (Passive): Spinal Ejection is a passive ability of certain Scarlet Rot plant life. It is applied passively to a single plant entity created from Scarlet Rot; when applied it causes that single plant to root in place. Every turn that plant has a 20% chance, rolled for in the Official Rolls channel of the Discord, to release a 360 degree spinal spikes within mid-range of its position. Each spine is infused with the Scarlet Rot and inflicts 60 damage. This does not cost a move but is interacted with as one.

Third Bloom (Passive): The Third Bloom is a passive enhancement applied to Scarlet Aeonia. This allows the user’s Scarlet Aeonia to activate upon death and heal their body for an additional 50 Health Points. The additional healing is only applied when activated upon death or incapacitation.

Dreamer
“I dreamt for so long. My flesh was dull gold…and my blood, rotted.”

Scarlet Nightmares (Passive): This is a passive modification to the user’s Genjutsu; it causes their victims to be afflicted with the Curse of Scarlet Rot if a Genjutsu is not removed within 4 turns.

Strengthened Bond I: The host’s bond is strengthened with their Beast. The host becomes able to access the beast’s basic transformation. Requires the user complete four C-Rank missions and two B-Rank missions.

Rotten Dreams (Active): A technique similar to Yin Release: 5 Elements Illusion. Rotten Dreams modifies any Genjutsu applied to take on illusory characteristics of Scarlet Rot. It is enhanced by an additional 10 Chakra and any who fail to meet its release conditions are afflicted with Scarlet Rot. This technique is performed within the same timeframe as the applied Genjutsu. Can be used four times per battle. These illusions are effectively weak to Fire Release and surges that apply Fire-natured Chakra.

Afflicted Curse (Passive): An organic target that perishes with the Scarlet Rot causes those within short-range of it to be placed under an a Genjutsu of their choosing, up to a maximum of B-Rank.

Strengthened Bond II: The host’s bond is strengthened with their Beast. The host becomes able to access the beast’s advanced transformation. In addition to this the user’s basic transformation also lasts an additional turn. Requires the user to complete three Official Battles.

Compounding Infection (Passive): Targets afflicted with Scarlet Rot become far more vulnerable to Genjutsu techniques applied to them. Genjutsu applied gain an increased 10 Chakra and 20 damage. The Chakra increase does not count as a Boost.

Mind Rot (Active): A target afflicted with the Scarlet Rot can be afflicted with Mind Rot. This is an active manipulation of the Scarlet Rot that directly targets the mind. Mind Rot causes the target’s mind to be consumed by the Rot and have exotic Scarlet plant life grown within it; those that do not cure themselves of Scarlet Rot within two turns will fall under the enemy’s mind control, lasting until the end of the arc or the victim becomes incapacitated.
