Now I also took the three doujutsus into consideration...
The Byakugan and the sharingan can obviously be inherited through offspring...
so why didnt the Rinnegan can't be..
CASE 1 : If Rikodou only CREATED his sons....
Let us say that Rikodou only has this EYE and when he became the Juubi's Jin, this eye mutated into Rinnegan, because i find it hard to believe that he has the Rinnegan ever since. That makes him and the Juubi possess the Rinnegan at the same time..
So in his deathbed...blahblah...he already has GROWN sons who inherited this and inherited that.. iF HE ONLY CREATED HIS sons, then he merely gave them part of his powers, namely his eyes and his body....
But what Eye did the Elder son reaallly received from the Rikodou...
it must be Rikodou's original EYE...the Swirl has just got to be there when maybe the younger son has already sealed his eyes...(yes i got ideas from other theories...)
This makes the younger son adept to Fuinjutsu, and knowing he has inherited this strong life force... I say that he is the Uzumaki ancestor...
On the other hand, the elder son may have the Byakugan eyes, maybe the strongest Byakugan ever existed, that's why it was sealed when he was defeated...
SO before the elder son fall into the CURSE OF HATRED, he already has founded a clan - the first Hyuugas, whose eyes are now the modern Byakugan... The uchihas came about when the Elder Son was trapped in this hatred and awakened the juubi inside him...
Same case for the younger son....The Uzumakis came about earlier than the Senjus...

CASE 2 : If Rikodou had a wife...
Let us say that for argument's sake, that Dear old Rikodou is an Uzumaki (meaning he doesnt have any doujutsu)- because he has this life force that is able to pin down the Juubi...know formidable sealing techs...and with all the parallelism and hints to Naruto...and again for argument's sake that his wife would be uhm a hyuuga.....again with the Naruhina thing...
We all know that Rikodou had a doujutsu as well as his apparent wife, in this case will be a Hyuuga... THEN WHY WOULD ONLY ONE SON - THE ELDER INHERIT THE EYES?? IF BOTH PARENTS HAVE DOUJUTSUS??
Maybe, before Rikodou was able to gain Rinnegan, He had already Sons - the elder got his eyes (BYAKUGAN) from his mother but also got some juubi chakra from his father which stayed dormant until it awakened and gave birth to the Uchihas....until the younger son again sealed his brother's eyes...
Meaning..there must be a gap of years between he became the jinchuuriki of the juubi then acquiring the Rinnegan...within this gap he must have had sons...
This is somehow contrary to what madara/Obito told Naruto about the Sage's sons - that the Elder Son got the Sage's eyes..instead of his mother's... Although he got his eye from his mother, he also acquired some juubi chakra from Rikodou himself...

Let me sum it here:
--Byakugan and Sharingan are hereditary - they can be passed down to offsprings, unlike Rinnegan which seems to be a mutation - just like kakashi said...
--i consider a possibility that Rikodou even after becoming the juubi's jinchuuriki, and before gaining the Rinnegan already had sons...
--Case1: The Uzumakis and Hyuugas are the first descendants of the younger and elder son respectively, back when they were at peace...that would explain their love for peace...(redundant??) Then after the the Curse of hatred started to corrupt the Elder son, it was then the Uchiha formed, as well as the Senjus from the younger sons side, maybe through thinning of blood of Uzumakis or cross marriage with other clans...
--Case2: Rikodou was an uzumaki and he had a Hyuuga wife making their sons half UZUMAki-hyuuga...WHICH AGAIN GAVE BIRTH TO uCHIHA AND sENJUS..
--THIS ALSO gives THE hYUUGA'S BYAKUGAN nothing that is in connection directly to the juubi...
--Rinnegan...a mutation
--Byakugan...pre-existing even before the other doujutsus...primitive and independent to the juubi...
--Sharingan...awakening of a power
