Be honest, Sakura would've been a stronger protagonist than Naruto.

Think about it. All Naruto had fleshed out was his forgiveness. Sakura would develop in regards to both love and forgiveness because the nature of why she wanted to retrieve Sasuke. If you ask me, she would've became a Jesus-type figure if she was the protagonist. Something like Mother Teresa but without the flaws.

Ask yourself this, who's a bigger hero, the guy that defeated the baddie or the chick that defeated the baddie AND personally cared for the wounded?
Her medical stuff would be reflection time too.

Since Kishimoto is running it, no thanks. It would have turned out to be worse. She was good as a support character and a comic relief. Put her in the main protagonist role and this franchise wouldn't have been popular as it was today. She is still the main heroine in this series.

All good answers besides you Rebo, you're lying out your ass, but as someone who thinks Naruto himself was a trash lead, how much worse or better would Sakura be? Scale of 1-10.
Also, don't neglect that the only reason Sakura lacks development is the fact that she's a side character. As the OP says, Sakura's relationship with Sasuke includes love so we would have to see her develop in regards to it as it's a key piece of why she pursues. She also began more flawed in regards to understanding others so she would've made a great display of Ninshuu's effectiveness.

Not to shit on Naruto's combat style either, but she would've been a kickass brawler too. You cannot tell me that thousands of Rasengans look cooler than the thought of Sakura's close-up battle style forcing her to constantly choreograph attacks, duck and weave, and hop and jump in the face of oncoming attacks.
