Battle Arena

Hey ppls I'm pretty new to NB and I' don't know how everything works. I want to know about the Battle arena and how it works. How do you do battles and those character bios? I just wanted to know because I wanted to try a battle or maybe I don't until I know the site a little better. Anyway can anybody help me out?
