Batman is definition of overrated. And Spider-Man is better. You know why? Cuz he went through worse than Batman. Yes, both of their parents died, but Batman had a easy life. He was a billionaire without a care in the world. Spider-Man is a real man cuz he endured poverty and was able to rise above it into a man. Show me a fight where Spider-Man won without his powers? Show me a fight where Batman won without help of his money.
Finally someone who agrees with me. Batman is horribly overrated. Is he cool? Yes. But does he deserve to be as overrated as he is? No, he does not. It annoys me when anyone talks about DC and they say Batman is the only cool character in DC. I can name several other characters who I think are awesome, but in the minds of almost every Batman fan (or Batgod fan, yes they call him that sometimes), no character is as cool or awesome as Batman because he has no powers and money.
I do agree that Batman had it very hard as a child. He watched his parents die, but he was very fortunate to have money to fall back on. A lot of children don't have that luxury. When Catwoman's parents died (depending on what origin story) she had to go through several foster homes, losing her sister in the process, and had to turn to prostitution just to survive. Batman didn't have to worry about things like that, and he had a father-like figure in his life to guide him and show him love (Alfred), while Catwoman didn't. I'm not too familiar with Spider-Man outside of the movies, but he didn't seem poor in those movies. I mean he wasn't super rich, but he did live in a pretty nice house. I do agree that he did rise above and beyond. He didn't spend his days brooding or being too serious to the point where it would come across as annoying.
As for Batman winning a fight without his money, he hasn't necessarily won a fight with his money, because his money is the reason why he's such a good fighter. If I'm not mistaken he had to fly around the world to learn various martial arts, which would require a large amount of money. If he wasn't rich I doubt he would be as good as he is today.
