Since their big clash with Kaido at the Kidd/Hawkins/Appoo Alliance base, we've seen absolutely nothing about what happened to Basil Hawkins.

You can see that his expression is much different that Eustass or Scratchmen in that picture. He looks perplexed, not angry like Eustass or opportunistic like Appoo. I'm sure Hawkins immediately consulted his tarot cards upon Kaido's unexpected arrival and more than likely came to the conclusion that their success rate was <1% at the most (though probably 0%.)

Did he pull a Houdini and just vanish? He is known as "The Magician" after all and I would totally understand if he fled from Kaido. Even with Kidd and Appoo + at least a few dozen regular pirates there to back assist him, they're just certainly no match for the likes of the Yonko Kaido. Now, since the confrontation, we've seen both Eustass and Scratchmen, but no Basil.

Now, while it's not necessarily confirmed that the man on the Den-Den Mushi is Appoo, the piano teeth pretty much give it away. I think it'd pretty silly to say that was anyone else. So based on the above, we know that Kidd was captured by Kaido and that Appoo now works for him. But where does Hawkins fit into all this? Obviously, the alliance is no longer intact, but which side is Basil Hawkins on? I think he may be working by himself now and may have secretly been an independent underworld broker the whole time. We saw Kidd during the Punk Hazard underworld TV broadcast, but we also saw one mysterious character who I think could possibly be Hawkins.

If you note in the first picture, Basil Hawkins does carry a sword, though on his hip rather than his back, so that is a bit of a stretch, but the sword does not discount that there is a possibility of it being him. Now, Hawkins has two very distinct features; his cross tattoo at the bottom of his neck and the 3 large lines above each of his eyebrows that extend up his forehead. Note that Oda was very careful to shade/cover both of those areas on this mystery broker. The hair and shape of the guy seems like it could be him though.
So what do you guys think? Is Basil Hawkins an independent underworld broker? Is he rotting in jail with Kidd or did he join Kaido like Scratchmen? Maybe he died? Let me know what you guys think happened to this very mysterious character.
