Revive BaseCon 2.0

[Caliburn]

Some people might have noticed that the BaseCon (once known as the MAC Base) has been updated a bit.

What has changed?

• Anime & Manga section was split into two: General and Specific. General A&M is obviously for general discussions and series that do not have their own (sub) section. Specific A&M contains several sub-sections dedicated to one series or franchise in particular; its main section is closed.
• The following series/franchises had a (sub) section dedicated to it, but have been removed and its threads moved to the General A&M section: OPM, SnS, TG, FMA, NNnT & Seasonal Anime.
• Review Corner sub-section was moved and archived in a mod section. Instead, Review and Recommendation prefixes were added to the General A&M section.
• ManhwaBase got bumped from sub-section to a main section called Webtoons & Manhwa. Maybe and odd move, but South-Korea has drawn completely the digital card and webtoons have become increasingly popular. They're often also of high-quality, so I think a main section is justifiable.

What is still in the pipeline?

• Naruto main section with only a Naruto (now Naruto Discussion) sub-section and a Boruto sub-section (now Boruto Discussion). The division between Naruto Discussion, Anime & Manga is simply obsolete and counterproductive at this point. Though, from a practical POV these sections contain so much threads that moving them all would be a pain, and from a nostalgic POV it would be a bit controversial as this division has existed for over 15 years. An intermediary solution would be to make the Anime & Manga closed sub-sections of the Naruto section. This way people would still be able to go through all the legacy threads and discussions, but make no comments anymore.
• Versus Colloseum. This sub-section was originally created because the main sections were being flooded with power scaling and match-ups that drowned all the other discussions. Now, this is no longer a problem, so I don't see a reason to keep this sub-section.

For this last case I see two options:

1. VS discussions remain only allowed between characters of the same series/franchise and are contained within their respective sections; all the Naruto VS threads will then be moved from the VS Colloseum section to the Naruto section.
2. Turn the VS Colloseum into a separate main section for a free-for-all cross-franchise bonanza (Base Colloseum), but disallow them in their respective specific sections.

I created a poll to see what the Base thinks about the VS conundrum.

Can we add a Light Novels section? Especially since a lot of manwha or webtoons are based off light novels in the first place

If it's related to webtoons or manwha, you can just use that section for it; I don't see a reason at this point to create a separate one for it.

Even for several of the existing (sub)-sections it's questionable they can generate enough activity and I don't really want to continuously remove/add new ones.

A thread prefix would be a good idea if a section is not possible.

I agree. The amount of sections need to be reduced to reflect the smaller userbase.

There was already a Light Novel prefix available in the old Review Corner, but I don't think anyone ever used it. I extended it towards the Webtoons and the General A&M sections.
