After Zombie and Zerabitu merged into the Zombitu, there were only four of us left. Our morale drastically dropped, and our levels of anxiety, stress, and fear went through the roof. We didn't know what to do anymore. All we could do was just move on. It hadn't occurred to us yet, that maybe our demise was inevitable. Hell, even now I don't know why I'm telling our story.
The tunnel was only another fifty meters, the truck was moving as fast as it could. Yet Zombitu charged on behind and was closing distance rapidly. The tunnel was the only chance to escape, there was no way something as large as the Zombitu could fit into that tunnel.
The few seconds it took to reach that tunnel though, that felt like an eternity. Especially from inside of the truck bed. As the darkness of the tunnel loomed in front of them, the hulking mass of muscle and evil that was Zombitu stormed from behind.
The trucks headlights suddenly began illuminating the darkness of the tunnel, and Zombitu came to a grinding halt unable to fit. Though it didn't give up, it reached it's arm inside the tunnel behind them. Tentacles lashed out from it's hands at ridiculous speeds closing the gap between Zombitu and the truck.
A single tentacle managed to strike the rear fender. The truck shuddered and swayed from the impact, but wasn't stopped.
Nocturnal panted in the truck bed, gasping for a breath. He hadn't realized he had been holding his breath that entire time. Flaw seemed to be the same. They practically owed their lives to Miss Faust's insane driving. Lawliet, on the other hand, seemed to have passed out completely. Though she was still alive.
Yet their troubled weren't over yet. The vehicle slowed down to a stop. Apparently the route ahead was blocked off by several collisions. About four or five burnt out cars smoldered in the middle of the road making passage impossible. They would have to proceed by foot.
One by one, they climbed out of the truck. Lawliet slowly regaining consciousness. Nobody really knew what to do at this point, or where to go. They seemed to be milling around aimlessly.
Flaw checked the burnt out vehicles for anything of use, but all he found were corpses. Nocturnal decided to check his phone, but to no avail.
"What are we supposed to do now?" Flaw finally broke the silence. "We're droning about like mindless zombies."
"How the hell should I know?" Nocurnal barked back, agitated in their current situation.
Lawliet was busy with something, that grabbed the others attentions.
"Just what are you doing, Lawliet?" Flaw walked over, especially after smelling a strange aroma.
Lawliet smiled and pointed in front of her, "I'm making tea."
"Did somebody say tea?" Miss Faust ran over, a joyous expression on her face.
"Yes, I figured we could use some. I found this propane tank in the bed of the truck with a burner. I had some tea on me, and decided to make us tea." Lawliet seemed proud of her accomplishment.
Nocturnal finally found his way over to the commotion in enough time to figure out Lawliet had some tea brewing. "Tell me it's the tea of zombie immunity. Or that this tea will kill off every zombie around?"
Lawliet frowned, "You don't have to be mean. I'm just trying to do something to lift our spirits."
"Well, whatever, it's not like we're going anywhere anytime soon. We'll have some tea, and think of a plan to get out of this mess." Flaw tried to ease up on the tensions some.
"Speaking of plans, one of those cars over there was a police car. I think I saw a radio in it. Maybe the police are alive and well?" Nocturnal figured his news was better than the tea.
"Good idea, go grab the radio. Let's hope we can get a signal in this tunnel too." Flaw spoke, as he pulled a map out of the truck.
Nocturnal casually walked over to the police car. He frowned in frustration, why couldn't the door be unlocked? He found a brick on the ground, and picked it up smashing in the window.
Nocturnal suddenly gagged, retching up nothing as he hadn't had food in a days. The smell was overwhelming, the police officer was still in the car, having apparently been burnt alive.
Nocturnal wasn't deterred though, he pulled his shirt over his mouth and nose to put a barrier between himself and the horrendous odor of burnt flesh and hair. He then reached into the car past the corpse to the radio on the charging unit.
"Gotcha!" He exclaimed as he felt the radio in his grasp.
The deceased cop suddenly reanimated, grabbing Nocturnal's arm and violently bit into the flesh. Nocturnal screamed, trying to break away from the zombie's grasp, his arm suddenly sliced to the bone on shards of glass.
He continued to fight, his arm ripping out of his socket. Before long, his arm broke completely off in a horrendously gory manner. Blood gushed from his shoulder profusely.
Fortunately for him, the group had heard his cries and was dragging him away from the police car. Miss Faust was already taking action cutting clothing away from the empty shoulder joint. She had taken the burner from the propane tank and pressed it directly into his shoulder.
Nocturnal had passed out from the pain. Yet Miss Faust continued to work on his shoulder. It was her duty, as a medical practitioner.
Several hours later, she had gotten the bleeding to stop, though Nocturnal was now comatose.
"I don't know if he's going to survive or not, or even if he's infected." She sighed, "All I know is that he will probably be in a catatonic like state for a while, until his body is able to reproduce the blood he lost."
Flaw punched the side of the truck in anger. "Damn, I wouldn't have thought to check the body either. But, we can't drag around a gimp!"
"You can't talk like that. It's not like we're going anywhere any time soon." Lawliet scolded Flaw.
"I know, but I don't know what else to do. I mean, for all we know he could wake up as one of them." Flaw reprieved himself. "Besides, I think I know where we can go."
"Oh? And where would that be?" Miss Faust had joined the convesation.
"The radio station. It's extremely secure. I was there once, it has thick doors, and it's fenced in. Not only that, we can broadcast to other survivors where to come!" Flaw knew his plan would work.
I wish we had known better. Even know, I want to give up hope. Trapped here. We were the only two to survive. Hell, we don't even know if anybody else is out there.
"Okay then, the radio station it is. That's where we'll go." Miss Faust confirmed the plan.
