Baraggan has the appearance of an elderly man, with a white mustache and white hair. His face is lined by large scars on the left side of his chin and across his right eye. Despite his aged appearance, Baraggan is quite stocky and muscular, and when standing (albeit with the slouch of an elderly person), he is of a fair size. He wears a regal white leather coat with black fur lining, short sleeves, and three black fur stripes running along the bottom. He wears a golden wristband on both wrists, and a belt consisting of three thick chains attached to a large metal disk with a sun emblem. Overall, he resembles a barbarian lord (of Viking origin). The location of his Espada tattoo is unknown. The remnants of his Hollow mask take the form of a five-pointed crown just above his forehead

Baraggan is boastful, arrogant, stubborn, and serious. He does not hesitate to impose his perceived authority over others, having taken the role of leader after Sōsuke Aizen was trapped; he even goes as far as to openly challenge two other powerful Espada, including one higher in rank than himself to disagree. He analyzes situations quickly and calmly.

As the Espada of Old Age, Baraggan possesses a sense of fatalism which comes from his power, bragging about how death by aging is something which the mind cannot fathom except for it being inevitable, even for Binkan. He states everything which can exist for a lifetime cannot exist forever: even the word "forever" is meaningless, for it was born out of the fear of death. This philosophy makes Baraggan quite merciless against his enemies, rotting the flesh from their bodies. Despite all of Baraggan's bragging, Hachigen Ushōda suggests that Baraggan is simply another life form that fears old age and tried to escape it; Baraggan himself claimed that he will never die.

For all his pride and power, Baraggan is easily angered. Whenever this happens, he flies into a blind rage, and starts cursing at his opponents. He will go completely all out in trying to attack the offender and anyone else in the way, even against all odds.

史|Background Info
Before becoming a proper shinobi, Baraggan was the undisputed King of Hueco Mundo, a small village he had established on one of the islands of the Land of Water. He reigned over an open court with many servants, and had a large army of Ninja. He was increasingly bored as a result of nothing to do, nothing to conquer, and no one to defeat, thus rendering his army nearly useless: its only purpose had become awaiting the invasion of another force. When Baraggan was told one of his subordinates had been killed, Priest appeared at the entrance to the court. Priest killed a Ninja which had tried to attack him, who, stating he and Baraggan had never met before, asked him if he was the King of Hueco Mundo. Confirming his status, Baraggan asked Priest who he was. Priest replied by saying that he was a Bartholomew, and was also well aware that Baraghan too was of the Bartholomew Clan.

Taking off his gloves, Priest asked Baraggan to take a look at his paws. As he held it up for all to see, Baraggan asked him what he was doing. Priest then asked him if he was happy with what he had, confusing Baraggan. He went on, asking if Baraggan ever felt that this place was not where he should be. Priest then stated that if he wanted to rise even higher, then he would aid Baraggan if he followed him. When he claimed if he did so, he would give him more power and a new world, Baraggan laughed at the notion, declaring that he was the King of Hueco Mundo, and that there was no one higher than him and no new world for him. Baraggan, no longer amused by the intruders, ordered his army to crush them all. However, Priest utilised his Paw Paw Arts and proceeded to destroy Baraggan's entire army. Priest stated that this was Baraggan's world, prompting him to rise from his throne and prepare to attack with his Arrogante.

In the ensuing battle, Baraggan was defeated; and forced to swear fealty to Priest Bartholomew. He was then invited to join the Bartholomew Clan which had settled in Kirigakure, and was taught Paw Paw Arts, allowing him to master the power he had always possessed but had no knowledge of. Soon, Baraggan would rise up the ranks and eventually reach the position of Legend within the Clan. However, despite the fact that he had managed to attain this power under the tutelage of Priest, he would continue to hold a grudge against him; always mindful of the fact that it was Priest who had destroyed his army and humiliated it. It was this hatred that led Baraggan to relinquish the title of 'Bartholomew', replacing it with his original surname; Louisenbairn.

Following Priests defection from Kirigakure, Baraggan too exited the village. However, he had neither the same motive nor the same goals as Priest, therefore, he did not follow his former 'Boss' to the Land of Fire. Instead, his route took him to Kumogakure where he was accepted by the Raikage at that time, Sora Gyojin.

araggan has mastered taijutsu, and as such, he possesses extraordinary strength, speed, and reflexes, far above that of a normal shinobi. He also possesses a great deal of dexterity, agility, coordination, balance and stamina. However, Baraggan's prowess in this specific field is much greater than most Taijutsu users as he has unlocked the ability to learn the Kinjutsu, the Eight Inner Gates, which comes along with Leg Weights. Unfortunately, without the necessary tutelage, he has yet not mastered the ability and still needs proper training to be able to release the Gates and drop the Weights.

Description: The Eight Gates are eight specific points on a person's Chakra Pathway System. They limit the overall flow of chakra within a person's body. The basis for the idea of the chakra gates comes from the body's limits on the functions within it. This makes the body much weaker, but it keeps the body from expiring too soon. By undergoing intense training, one can learn how to open these gates allowing the user to surpass their own physical limits at the cost of extreme damage to their own body. The user opens the gates in sequence, up to the desired gate to achieve its effects. Opening the gates is a fast process and can be done in mere moments up to the desired gate. EIG Masters can do so easily and in a passive way (not spending a move). When one opens up to a given EIG, that opening lasts 4 turns. Opening additional gates upon the last turn of the active opening adds 2 turns. However, there is an exception. Opening the last and 8th gate can only be done for 2 turns, even if the user opens it immediately.
(Kaimon) - The Gate of Opening: The user activates The Gate of Opening or First Gate, which is located in the brain. This gate removes the restraints of the brain on the muscles so 100% of their strength can be used whereas normally, a person can only use 20% of their muscles' strength to keep them from disintegrating. Unlocking this gate allows the user to use the Front Lotus. This gate adds +5 damage to Taijutsu and the user becomes 1.5x faster. User suffers -5 damage.
(Kyūmon) - The Gate of Healing: The user activates the Gate of Healing or 2nd Gate (also named Rest Gate) which is located in the brain. Forcibly increases one's physical strength and temporarily re-energizes the body. This gate adds +10 damage to Taijutsu and the user becomes 2x faster. User suffers -10 damage.
(Seimon) - The Gate of Life: The user activates the Gate of Life or 3rd Gate which is located in the Spinal cord. The increased blood flow turns the skin red. Allows the user to use Hidden Lotus. This gate adds +15 damage to Taijutsu and the user becomes 3x faster. User suffers -15 damage.
(Shōmon) - The Gate of Pain: The user activates the Gate of Pain or 4th Gate (also named Wound Gate) which is located in the Spinal cord, lower than the Seimon. Increases the user's strength and speed. May cause muscle tissue to begin to tear on use. This gate adds +20 damage to Taijutsu and the user becomes 4x faster. User suffers -15 damage.
(Tomon) - The Gate of Limit: The user activates the Gate of Limit or 5th gate, which is located in the abdomen. Increases the user's speed and power. This gate adds +30 damage to Taijutsu and the user becomes 5x faster. User suffers -15 damage.
(Keimon) - Gate of View: The user activates the Gate of View or 6th Gate, located in the stomach. Increases the user's speed and power. Opening of this gate releases such enormous amounts of chakra that it can cause nearby water bodies to form a vortex around the user. Allows the user to perform the Morning Peacock. This gate adds +40 damage to Taijutsu and the user becomes 6x faster. User suffers -25 damage.
(Kyōmon) - The Gate of Wonder: The user activates the Gate of Wonder or 7th Gate which is located below the stomach. Those who open this gate will pour glowing green sweat from every inch of their body, which immediately evaporates from their own heat energy, creating an aura which people would mistake as a green chakra coating. However, the side effects of opening the gate are that the user's muscle fibers are ripped to shreds after exiting this gate, causing intense pain if anything or anyone touches him. Allows the user to perform the Daytime Tiger without great strain on the user's chakra. This gate adds +60 damage to Taijutsu and the user becomes 7x faster. User suffers -40 damage.
(Shimon) - The Gate of Death: The user activates the Gate of Death or 8th Gate, located at the heart, enabling the user to achieve what is described as The Eight Gates Released Formation" (Hachimon Tonkō no Jin). Releasing this gate uses up all of the body's energy. It makes the heart pump at maximum power and exceeds the power of every other gate. However, once the user opens this gate, he needs to defeat the user as when the gate timing runs out, the user dies. This gate adds +120 damage to Taijutsu and the user becomes 14x faster.
Note: The EIG users can only open the gates once per fight, meaning that if he allows the EIG opening to time out, he cannot open the EIGs again during the match. EIG Masters can open EIGs twice per battle if the first use is only up to 6th gate.
Note: Up to 3rd Gate, the damage is neglitable for both EIG Users and EIG Masters, feeling only pain and lack of stamina. However, for openings above that, EIG Masters don't suffer damage from opening up to 6th Gate but EIG users will feel severe pain and damage after the EIG opening times out, being left unable to move correctly for 2 turns and unable to mold chakra above B-rank in the next turn. EIG Masters will feel the same effects for opening 7th Gate.
Note: Opening the 8th Gate kills the user at the end of the 2 turns it remains opened.
(Katai Omori) - Leg Weights

Description: The Leg Weights used for Special Taijutsu Training with Added Weights are made through the application of a sealing formula to ordinary leg weights. The sealing formula is used to, through the use of chakra, increase the weight of the leg weights to the desired level. The seal can't be applied to anything other than the leg weights and its use is restricted to its original purpose. One can remove the leg weights but the sealing technique in them stays active indefinetely and can't be released. Additionally, the Leg Weights and their unique seal calibration makes them only usable by the ninja to whom they belong. They can't be sealed or stolen.


Weapons

Barragan carries a whole multitude of weapons. In his ninja pouch, he carries shuriken, explosive kunai, explosive tags, ink, blank scrolls, fan, flash bombs and smoke bombs, ninja wire, and all the other items essential for a ninja. He also carries a katana on strapped to his left leg which can be wielded with one hand. Other non-conventional weapons he carries include: a pouch full of fine sand, some cigarettes and flint as well as a bottle of water. Baraggan also carries 3 scrolls each for Earth Release: Mud Wolves, and Fire Release Summoning Technique: Fire Tiger Explosion; prepared beforehand to be utilized in battle. Baraggan also wears the Amplification Gloves on both of his arms, and they're notably covered in a purplish chakra coat when worn by him.

(Zōfuku Gurōbu) - Amplification Gloves

Description: The Amplification Gloves were first developed by members of the Bartholomew Clan, designed to enhance their Clan Kekkei Genkai, which was the ability to 'push' and 'pull'. Although referred to as the Amplification Gloves, they reach up to and including the shoulders of the user, covered completely with an near indestructible metal; and multiple suction cups all over the arms and a single one present between the palm and the middle finger. These gloves are worn on both arms, distinctively only leaving out the paws of the user, who in this case is a member of the Bartholomew Clan. Once worn by the user, the Amplification Gloves are active each turn, and passively absorb chakra from the user regardless of whether the Gloves are at use or not.

There are multiple abilities limited only to the Amplification Gloves. The first ability of the Amplification Gloves is simply unique to its design, as it allows the user to store multiple weapons inside 'pockets' present in the glove. The user can stockpile a definite number of weapons, smoke bombs, scrolls inside the Amplification Gloves; remaining inside the laws of nature. Logically, the Amplification Gloves cannot store massive objects inside it; and can store a maximum number of 10 items, regardless of whether they're all kunai, shuriken or scrolls. These weapons that are stored inside the gloves can be shot out as projectiles and count as one of the three techniques per turn.

The second ability of the Amplification Gloves is its ability to be used for defensive purposes, by exploiting the near impenetrable quality of the metal from which the Gloves have been constructed. This makes the glove completely impervious to any C Rank or below techniques, regardless of the nature of the technique. The Amplification Gloves individually can also be used to defend against A Rank techniques once although jointly, they can defend against an S Rank once as well. Utilizing the Amplification Gloves to defend after the said limit against any A Rank or below/above technique would not only be futile, it would render the Gloves useless for the rest of the match. Utilizing this ability of the Amplification Gloves to defend against A Rank techniques costs extra chakra (40), much more than the passive absorption of chakra by the Gloves each turn and also counts as one of the three techniques per turn.

The third and final ability of the Amplification Gloves revolves around its original development as an aid for the Bartholomew clansmen. The first variation involves utilizing the suction cups that surround the Amplification Gloves, which absorb the air from their surroundings, pulling them inside the glove. This pressurized air is channeled to the palm of the user and concentrated at one point before being released either as a massive burst of wind or as a penetrative beam of wind (S Rank). By concentrating the chakra at a single point, the released Fuuton jutsu gains a more violent and deadly nature. Alternatively, the second variation of this involves the user pulling in a Fuuton jutsu (S Rank or below) of the opponent through the suction cup present in palm region before redistributing it to the various suction cups in the arms and releasing it out in a docile form. The second variation acts as a vacuum, pulling in anything within Short Range of the user, and can hence also be used to pull in the target towards the user.

Note: The second ability of the Amplification Gloves can only be used to defend against attacks targeting the arm, or if the user uses his arm to defend the specific region being attacked. Otherwise, the Gloves cannot defend the user by themselves.
Note: A single glove can individually perform the third ability.
Note: The third ability of the Amplification Gloves can only be used twice per battle, regardless of which variation is used. It counts as move per turn and can't use A rank or above wind in the next two turns
Note: When wielding the Amplification Gloves, the Gloves are surrounded by the chakra of the user and have a specific color. Alternatively, if another person wields or his chakra comes into contact with the Gloves; the color of the chakra surrounding the Gloves would change.
Note: The user does not necessarily have to be part of the Bartholomew Clan to wield the Amplification Gloves. His gloves would naturally be designed differently to cover up the 'paw' region.
Note: Can only be wielded by Hell Autarch, and those he allows.

Bartholomew
Barragan is a member of the Bartholomew Clan, and has the position of Legend within the Clan. As such, he is naturally able to perform Paw Paw Arts with much greater ease, and with far weaker restrictions. As is common within the Bartholomew Clan, Baraggan has Paw imprints on his palm and in Baraggans case; they're grey in colour.
