Looks: Bane is an intimidating physical specimen. Growing up in a hellish prison gave him ample time to train his body granting him a very muscular appearance. He is bald with brown eyes and wears a very distinctive ventilator which covers his mouth and wraps around the sides and top of his head. At times he wears a black and white mask to cover the rest of his face. He often wears a military-style flak jacket, pants and boots. In colder weathers he prefers to wear a large brown jacket with a rough fur collar.

Personality: While his appearance and ruthless nature may suggest otherwise, Bane is immensely cunning and intelligent. Most of his life was spent not just bettering his body, but also his mind. The prison he grew up in had a wide variety of inmates who carried a vast amount knowledge. Thanks to this Bane was able to receive an advanced education despite a childhood of imprisonment. While his actions can often be seen as evil, he views them as necessary evils in order to achieve his goals.

Background Info

History: Bane's father was an infamous Shinobi of Sunagakure during the Third Great Ninja War. He had long been regarded as one of the best ninja the village had, but ended up betraying the Sand and defecting to Konoha. His plans to flee didn't go as planned causing his wife and child to be captured by those he betrayed. While she had no intentions of betrayal, his wife and child were sentenced to life in prison. They were sent to "The Pit". This prison was reserved for the most dangerous captives, whether it be through physical threat or intelligence they possessed. It was often described as hell on earth. It didn't take long before the mother succumbed to the conditions of the prison and left the child alone. It was here that the child grew up and it was here that Bane was born.

For years he trained his body and mind waiting for his chance to return to the world above. But it was an unexpected bond that would lead him there. A pregnant woman had been sent to the pit and developed a bond with Bane. Before long she had given birth to a child who she named Talia. But the hellish prison soon took its toll, and several of the inmates murdered the woman. Before they could kill Talia, Bane intervened and fought them off, saving the child. With nobody to raise her Bane watched over her. Knowing that they couldn't survive forever Bane devised a plan to help Talia escape. He told her they could escape together, though he knew this was impossible. The day for the plan to go into action finally came and it worked flawlessly. Talia escaped to the surface, and Bane was beaten severely by the other inmates. It was only thanks to a fellow inmate who had been a doctor that he survived. He was badly mangled needing bandaging to hold his jaw together. Knowing he had saved Talia gave him peace despite this constant pain.

Many years later Bane had given up his hope of returning to the surface, he had accepted his fate. It was at this time that Talia returned to the prison, with her father, Ra's al Ghul. It was revealed to Bane that Ra's had left Sunagakure in order to found an organization called the League of Assassins. This group's soul purpose was to erase corruption and evil from the world, through any means necessary. This was an objective that Bane could identify with as he long viewed his imprisonment and his mother's death as unjust. The League offered him a path to avenge this injustice, and save him from the pit. While their goals were honorable, their methods were anything but and so they had to operate from the Shadows, which suited them well. Bane's first mission was to conquer his past and his emotions. In order to accomplish this it became clear that he needed to destroy the source of his hellish childhood; his father. When Bane found his father he was bed-ridden with disease. The man didn't recognize him, but Bane instantly knew the man was his father. Standing over the barely conscious man, Bane forgave him. A flicker of recognition lit up in the man's eyes just as Bane drove a kunai into his chest.

Earth and Fire: Earth being his primary element, Bane is capable of using even the most complex earth techniques with a single hand seal. His secondary element is fire which allows him to use it slightly faster than the normal ninja.

Smoke: After joining the League of Assassins, Bane mastered the art of smoke techniques. The bandaging that held his jaw together was replaced with a ventilation mask and single barreled smoke launchers sit on the underside of his forearms.

Weapons: Bane carries numerous weapons in pouches along his waist and on his flak jacket. These include kunai, shuriken, smoke bombs, flash bombs, seals, marshmallows, etc. Seals are inscribed around his wrists for the lightning blade creation technique which can be used to summon more weapons if needed. He has several scrolls attached along his spine on his back and on the inside of his brown coat used for sealing techniques. He carries a standard katana over his left shoulder for kenjutsu techniques.
