[Suggestion] Ban religion threads again

Like seriously, it's getting boring. Over and over again everybody and his mother-in-law decides to shove his beliefs down our throat. Some members even join for that sole purpose.
Religion threads were banned before and then they were allowed again but I don't think that it works this time either.

So my suggestion is simple : kill the Batman. No no sorry Ban religion threads or the members who do nothing else but use the forum to advertise their religious beliefs.

Let this thread be a poll for whether the members want religion threads in General Discussion or not.

Yeah unfortunately there hasn't been a single thread like the one you describe though. The mods 9/10 have to close this kind of threads so I don't see why they should even be allowed to be started in the first place.

As a Sociology student, I can understand the difficulties with defining religion and understanding various religions. It took mature adults such as Karl Marx, Max Weber and Durkheim to barely grasp a conceptual understanding of these things amongst many others .

So , how are children on NB meant to understand. They just bash it around or create wars it seems redundant to leave this issue alone. So my simple answer = Yes ban religion threads again. It is not amusing in any such way. It also in a way, violates the rules of NB. Being rude/offensive to others. In this case, through religion.

I agree that we should do something about this problem. The rules are there but most either don't know about them or they just don't wanna follow them.

I have always been against banning these kind of threads but there is no point allowing them if we are gonna close them anyway 2 hours later. Maybe we could try prohibiting them for a month or two. I will discuss it with the other admins.

I have seen them threads,there not plentiful but,they do get made from time to time.

Also just because the problem threads outnumber the positive ones does not mean they should be excluded altogether that is close minded thinking at is not solution to the problem.

What is the solution then? Keeping in mind that people don't care about following the rules and they don't mind if they get banned since they can log into an alt account and do the same over and over?

Yeah I agree with this, I've seen alot of religion thread being led to harassing, insulting and bullying other members :eww:, I thought NB was a site to discuss manga and other topics? Not religion :yeah:

It is the way people use the topic of religion.Religion in itself is not inherently causing the discrimination.Banning it plain out is wrong and in itself discriminatory.

And not everyone on here is a child so you not only cast religion itself in a bad light but,at the same time insult hundreds of people on this base and have decided on your own accord that such a matter as religion cannot be handled properly by us people and to that i say get off your high horse and join the rest of us here on planet earth.

Also your sociology class has apparently taught you nothing.

I never stated that i had a solution but,i did suggest that you actively keep watch over the threads that are based on religion and monitor them.If one is made for the sake of pure argument delete it,If it seems that it is made to discriminate in anyway or has blown into a war of religion delete it.

How is turning your back on the subject entirely a solution ?

What if there is a separate subsection for religion related threads and new thread posts don't show in today's forum section, just like chatterbox related threads.

That way only people interested in those debates will take time to go to the appropriate forum section.
Also there should be a mod constantly checking for post and give people infractions or delete rude comments.

easy when someone post a religion tread just delete his account (u can do that right?) it's a bit harsh but that is the best way to deal with the problem (ps.i'm just seggesting)

If the ratio is 9 threads that lead into flame wars in every 10 religion threads (which isn't but let's say i believe you that such threads exist although all I see is provocative threads that lead to flame wars) then it's simply not worth it to have a mod close and delete the 9 and let the 1 open. It simply isn't functional and practically not possible.

Well I personally don't give a damn about them, I just noticed they pile up every day that's why I made the suggestion.
But I honestly don't like this attitude you are proposing. This way, let the trolls rule in the other sections too. After all, if you don't like their threads, don't look at them. Allow character bashing again too. If you don't like your character being bashed, don't look at them.

It is the only solution I have in my mind and that's why i am discussing this problem publicly.
What you are saying can't happen because when you moderate an item this is what usually follows:

-Delete the thread.
-Scan through all the posts in it and infract/warn everything that is off rules.
-Reply to the message of the member who started the thread and is complaining now cause it's deleted.
-Read all pm replies to the infractions/warnings you gave.
-Keep explaining to the op that although we understand that his/her intentions were not to offend, other members made his/her thread impossible to keep open to the public.
-Message back those who complain about the 'unfair' infraction/warning they received.
-Get mad at people who have never read the rules but are calling you unfair for infracting them.
-Message them back again, pointing out the rules.
-Accept their apology.
.....
-Moderate new thread.

As you see for every rules breaking thread there's tons of work to be done. We don't just delete a thread, we have to deal with all the rest as well.

We cannot have mods only for religion threads. We could allow groups alone, but again new members would not bother and just post what they want.
