[Discussion] Bakuman ? I dont get it

Started bakuman yestersayy i am at episode 14 but there is something i don't get .. Why can't syko or whatever his name is and his "gf" talk to each other or hangout or something i get it so they can focus on achiving their dreams but it kinda feels forced it's not like a date would kill anyone .-.
Expected more from death note's author.
