I'd like to suggest that we be allowed to add background color or images to our post boxes. It'd make individual stand out and allow us to find them much easier. Just a suggestion. Though, would this mess with the NB server or something?

It would be a messy sight to see with people using all types of different, bright and colorful pictures.

Yes, it would be too messy, and also, if you have a bad internet connection, it will take ages to load all the individual colours etc.

If you want to stand out, use a text colour and font. Take Scorps, he always replies in italics, and people see his responses better trough that...

The site would be too messy, I haven't even seen a forum witch such a feature (only chat boxes). It wouldn't even make anyone stand out since there would also be other members with a similar color. If you want to know who makes a post/sends message, it takes a second or less to look at the username/avatar to the left. You can always use BBcode: Font, color, underline, bold, italics, sizes.

A 200x150 avatar of everyone is considered very generous, most forums allow 150x150 or even 100x100, thinking the servers can handle every single member downloading every single background from every single post? that's 10mb minimum for each thread, will probably be an average of 25mb, some threads get viewed thousands of times.
Also, for this to become possible, I believe html would have to be allowed in posts, resulting in anyone being able to freely spread viruses around.
tl;dr This suggestion is impossible to implement
