Back to Sasuke and Orochimuru but still hangin

They are finally going to talk about Sasuke and Orochimuru but they still left me hangin about how Kakashi got to the point where he had to chidori Rin...anybody have any explanation for that, i mean i know Kakashi would have to kill his best friend in order to get the mangekyo sharingan but did she tell him to do it, was it a last resort and if so for what because after that happened he passed out....if he was going to pass out whats the point
