To clear up everyone's confusion:
The Sage Toad read Naruto's prophecy. He said "The time will pass where you will fight a young man whose power lies in his eyes."
In other words, Naruto and Sasuke WILL eventually fight.
I don't know where the hell everyone keeps getting this idea that Tobi GAVE Nagato the Rinnengan. That's not what happened, and that's not in the manga. Nagato awakened the Rinnengan after witnessing his parents dying to burglars from Konoha, and killed the burglars.
The SO6P had two sons.
The older son, who inherited the Sage's "eyes" (his powerful chakra and spiritual energy), believed that power was the true key to peace. The younger son, who inherited the Sage's "body" (his powerful will and physical energy), believed that love was the true key to peace. On his deathbed, the Sage chose his younger son to be his successor. Overcome by bitterness and envy, the older son attacked the younger, beginning a war between them. Their feud would continue on through their descendants: the Senju clan and the Uchiha clan. Breeding the two clans would obviously make the offspring that can ATTAIN the Rinnegan.
I firmly believe that the Uzumaki clan were bred from the Senju and Uchiha.
Reason A.) Kishi wrote in ink that the Uzumaki are close relatives of the Senju.
Reason B.) The members of this clan were acknowledged to possess incredible life force and chakra. But the Uchiha were the ones that inherited the 6P's chakra, not Senju.
Reason C.) The Uzumaki clan symbol is the same design as the older son of the 6P's eyes.
Reason D.) Nagato is an Uzumaki with the Rinnegan.
The Rinnegan IS the power of the SO6P. It allows the user to master the 5 basic chakra natures, and master yin/yang release (which is creation out of nothingness). It even gives the user the power of the 7th path, the "beyond life and death" path.
It is not what comes after the EMS merely through battle/traumatic experience. The older son never had the Rinnegan, but a Kekkei Genkai that was similar. Instead of his eyes having the ripple design, they had a spiral design. (the uzumaki clan symbol has the same design)
It was said that in times when the world is in disorder, a person is sent down from the heavens with the Rinnegan to become either a "God of Creation" who will calm the world or a "Destroyer" who will reduce everything to nothingness.
Those apostrophe looking symbols are called "Magatama's." They are an accessory in Japanese culture originally made from animal teeth or claws (now made from stone and gems).
In japanese mythology, Susanoo (god of sea and storms) went to heaven and gave his Sister Amateratsu (godess of sun), 500 Magatama's. Amateratsu bit off the 9 Magatama's and blew them away to create other deity's. (deity is another word for god or goddess)
So we can assume the tailed beasts are directly related to the Rinnegan. (but not to obtain it, as the 6P had the Rinnegan before sealing the 10 tails.)
Also, Madara didn't attain the Rinnegan until AFTER he extracted Hashirama's DNA into himself. (before he died)
