Many things about chapter 700 did not sit well with me, and I had to block them out in order to enjoy the ending of the series lols. Now that that has come to pass and I've given it some time, I'd like to discuss them.
Some things were small or minor, other things were radical, while several were just plain weird lols.
1. Shino's dream was to explore the world and find new species of insects. I'm not saying he did not shoot for this, but his portrayal in the chapter did not encompass it. Instead he came off as a regular cadet teacher, which I don't recall him ever planning to be or ever reflecting his personality being how anti-social he was. This was minor however as I always regarded him as one of the wisest K11.
2. As others have said, Sarada with glasses, as well as pulling them, squinting and having combed hair makes her resemble Karin far more than Sakura or even Sasuke.
3. Her name also parallels the spelling and pronunciation of salad lols.
4. Anko being heavy seemed strange to me at first. However, after some time I've interpreted it as she being in retirement and happy due to the world being at peace.
5. Temari and Kankuro look far older than they actually are. I interpreted this as they living in the desert and the sun, making their skin age more rapidly, but I felt it was still unsightly for their characters and unnecessary.
6. Chouji and Karui getting together was fine, but it was still out of left field with no foreshadowing at all. I don't even recall them being in each other's vicinity in the war lols.
7. Mei being arguably the most attractive and flirtatious female throughout part 2 and yet still single.
8. Konohamaru, Udon and Moegi looked and acted exactly the same as they did throughout the series even though they were adults. Obnoxious brats breaking into the hokage's meeting, shouting out loud, ticking off Shikamaru, tattle tailing on the Hokage's son and whining about him. Well, I suppose it was for nostalgia reasons, but I've always been a bit biased when it came to these three lols. The even stranger thing about it was that they reminded me of Danzou, Homura and Koharu.
9. Iruka looking like he was about sixty and far older than Gai and Kakashi, even though he was still supposed to be in his thirties.
10. Kurotsuchi being Tsuchikage, even though she had little feats and development in the war and was completely overshadowed by her dad, Kitsuchi. She also seemed a bit too vain towards Naruto lols.
11. In the final panel with with Naruto's Hokage monument, I disliked that Kishimoto just HAD to put the straw hat logo on his forehead, as if saying he was subservient to Oda. It was kind of cringeworthy because I wanted the moment to be complete nostalgia and for nothing to be in my head other than a flash through the series, not the one piece characters. -_- And what exactly makes Oda so much better than everyone else? Oh yes, sales! That's all that matters! I'll bet you a million bucks Jump made him do it lols.
12. In the final page, where it shows the mural with the juubi, Kurama and Naruto, while it was awesome, it seemed peculiar that Sasuke was not present in it. True, his absence made it parallel the original one more and the manga is named after Naruto, but defeating Kaguya was a combined effort with his friend Sasuke, the bijuus and the alliance who seemingly disappear from existence in the mural rather than just Naruto and Kurama.
So what did you believe was awkward, out of place, strange or distasteful about the chapter, if anything?
