The main character has no ties to the current naruto main characters. If you don't think it deserves to be a spin off I think maybe a filler would be cool.
A series that takes place in the hidden mist village. I imagine it being much darker than what current naruto is. Remember when Zabuza said that a requirement to graduate from the academy is to kill your friend? I would like to see the character go through that and develop through it.
Also the character is incredibly intelligent and wins in unique ways. This leads to unexpected and interesting fights, which is why Shikamaru always had my favorite fights.
Also the time setting is when the Mizukage was being controlled by Tobi (I believe it was called BLOOD mist village during that time? Not sure, but it would lead to cool events)
Also events from other villages we already knew about often play a small role in the plot, ex: Uchiha massacre may cause the main character to be sent on a mission to see if this is an opportunity to find village secrets or weaknesses or find some remaining sharingan or something.
