Avatar Suggestions

So I have a question for the graphically talented, artistically aware, or anyone who wants to care!!!

I have the Nico Robin Avatar as displayed down below, and I was wondering what you would suggest for the Border.

At the moment it is a simple black border, but I was wondering if it should be changed to a red or color to better match the pinkish sunset looking shading that is on the image!

I was wondering so because while the Black makes a nice frame, I was wondering if you thought it takes away from the pinkish shading, and at the same time, were the border more of a matching pink would it make the Avatar feel less defined and more sloppy?!

I appreciate opinions and constructive criticism ^.^!!!! Also...sorry if this is the wrong section, but I figured GFX Help was a place for help for my GFX question!

I prefer the black border, But maybe in the center of the border, You can make a pinkish strip going throughout.

I´m no specialist but I like it that way, just my opinion.

A different way that could also work (can´t say for sure) was if you added a different shape to the borders (round in the corners) with pinkish dashes flowing around the pic.

^ Now that I read that it sounds a bit confusing eheh

Yeah I had switched it from the pinkish border to the black one as I felt it looked more "professional"

Not at all confusing!!! I was thinking that it would work were it not a simple rectangle and more of one of the curvy borders like Kages and several others use!

Thanks for the suggestion ^.^!!! I'm only working with Paint and Photobucket, but had I been using some of the other....well better editing programs I'd slap one on as I agree they are really cool!!!

if you want it to show off the pink blurring then just have no border at all! thats the best way to show the pink blurring , but if you want a border go with a simple black border but you have the thickness and 3 or 4 but you should have it as 2
it looks alot better and especially for a 150x200 avatar the thicker border is to confining and ruins the whole avatar!
dont go with a pink border as it will also ruin the avatar!
