Cassius heard Aurora's words but none of them were sinking in, especially being face to face with a rat- no, a mouse like Rhama.

"Hello nurse. Dreadful incident no? Such a terrible infliction frozen fibrosis. Though, of course you'd know that...prodigy nurse and all?" he smirked...Cassius' insides froze. He didn't know that at all. In fact he had no idea what the disease she was was called or even really how to treat it. Rhama continued with his fake pleasantries but the 2 totally phased out, he spoke calmly and slyly, he was a large man with long blonde hair, a rare trait in people from the North. He looked like a lion, majestic and proud but his attitude was that of a caged animal, he was clearly restraining his true nature and ferocity in public, keeping up public appearances was more powerful than bending these days Cassius thought. Cassius shook, the crowd were still watching them. "Aurora I take it back-" he whispered, "absolutely do not use that art of yours under any circumstances, not in this city or you're...we're in trouble..." He gulped and faced back at the smiling Rhama, the proud Earthbender stood tall.

"...Indeed Commander Rhama....although. If even the second greatest medic in this city doesn't know the name of the disease...how does a esteemed military man such as yourself know?" He said equally as calm, he put his palm against the ice wall and assimilated some of the ice into small claws of his own, hiding them from view. Aurora was the only one who saw. "Seems awfully suspicious if you ask me? Perhaps we should go check on other parts of our society huh? See if Master Pakku is well?" His eyes were full of malicious intent, determined to expose him as the fraud he believed him to be...but Rhama's eyes stayed as collected as before. The public were not stupid though, the higher informed had vague idea of the situation and this situation truly was suspicious.

"Perhaps your skills aren't as good as you think they are." He bluntly brushed off, he walked past Cassius and pushed Aurora aside, leading the way for the Water Tribesmen to pick up the body again and finish their clean-up job.

"Liar." Cassius indirectly said to Aurora, and also to himself as the second-in-command prestigious Rhama walked off into the distance with his reputation intact , a suave stride and a death on his hands.

Cassius and her stayed in front of the Medic academy, still taken aback at what happened. They eventually became the only two in front of the building, now an empty shell without its master. Reminding herself of what Cassius said, she remarked, "So you finally see it my way? Bloodbending is a curse, Cassius....a curse that few bear, but also few use for what they believe to be noble intents. I, on the other hand, am not like that at all. I only use it....if I'm near death...or if someone I truly care for is..."

She bowed her head once she said those words, another tear falling from her eyes. Those words...reminded her...of that night. The night...she used her bloodbending for the first time...the night...her parents were murdered before her very eyes. The entire reason she became a hermit.

"But that's besides the point. All is not lost, my friend. We're alone now; let's go in and examine the crime scene, uninhibited by a crowd or a standoffish oaf like Rhama. Once we are finished here, I say we make haste to Master Pakku, like you suggested. Also...by what Rhama called the cause of Yagoda's death...frozen...fibrosis...well, frozen is an obvious description...as for fibrosis...that means having to do with fibers of the body...like muscle fibers." Putting two and two together, she had an epiphany. "You said that all the blood was gone from her shoulder, yes? Well, how is that possible without....no....how could someone like Rhama get their hands on a...well you know... Besides, freezing to death is next to impossible for any normal water tribe citizen, especially one who has been here as long as Yagoda. Her elderly body may be more susceptible to illness, but we are all well equipped for the harsh cold here. Without even a portion of her blood, she could obviously fall victim to the cold...especially if that "person", is coupled with a skilled waterbender. Besides, before this, you said she needed a blood transfusion....maybe (you thought) she needed that because...this wasn't the first time the assassin visited. She may have been unknowingly losing blood for long before her death today."

Finishing her bit of a lecture, she slowly headed into Yagoda's academy with Cassius tailing, which was one of her past homes.

She deduced the cause of death in basic but correct summation "Well it's a lot more complicated than that street rat but close enough" he muttered as he trailed behind, refusing to show he was slightly impressed by someone out his field.

"We shouldn't stay at the crime scene long." He warned from behind, "Hell, we shouldn't even stay within the walls for tonight now we're on the militia's radar. That bastard...he looked right into me." He walked with his head down low. "He's guilty, I know it. That man and many others will take everything away from us one thing at a time. And it's not just him-" he vented, "he's only just one of many rats in the network, and the most influential...I should know." Cassius too remembered the time a kind and brave man had come to the Medical Academy and attempted to recruit him as a junior strategist for his personal command...he was only 15 years old and far from ready. He was...he was the man who had directly given him his dream of becoming the world's most revered medic, a boy mocked in a class of girls, was given a dream, a dream put into place by a scheming power-hungry lunatic.

He then looked ahead at Aurora. She was deep in thought herself. How had he never met this girl? He had been tasked with some of the Water's dirtiest secrets but even he had no knowledge of a young girl such as her. She had capable understanding of the prowess of healing herself and she knew Yagoda. Which would technically make her a healing student? In the past 4 years Cassius had far pass graduated and managed many young Water tribe girls as the establishment's aide..and Yagoda spoke fondly of her past students, no matter how well she knew them and nobody had mentioned this mystery girl. Why were the Elders so keen to hide her? "Are you a...student medic by any chance streetrat? How much older are you than me anyway?" considering that must've been the only way she could've trained there, at a young age...or maybe. She got secret off-the-book lessons? She was a walking mystery.

He stared at the back of her head, trying to read her mind, and although he had no clue what the enigma could possibly be thinking- Cassius felt an instant shock of connection for the first time in many years- she knew hardships as well, maybe even worse. What kind of life must a bloodbender live in this age? She seemed a happy person but he knew nobody was truly that happy, even if they convinced themselves they were. Cassius had already put the majority of her story together from the interrogation in the lab, but he wouldn't dare raise his hypothesis now. She knew of pain, but what she didn't know was how trusting and blissfully unaware she was of the twisted land she lived in..and he hoped she never would.

Finally someone spoke. "Everything seems to be in exact order. Even a bed-ridden....old woman-" He said the words distastefully, trying to seperate himself from her verbally "-would cause at least some change. Everything is perfectly covered up. Maybe...too perfect. If the Militia were behind this then they clearly brought on their stealthiest and best men. "I guess when you think about it simply...there's no other way. But Rhama isn't a waterbender. The man is no joke, ever since Republic City migration was made a possibility, people flocked around the world. The likelihood of an Earth nomad working his way up to the role of 2nd Commander in a foreign land at that time was amazing, inspired even. And in his 20 long years in the role he protected us from the Earth Tribe and had never once been questioned on his actions." - He recited the story of Rhama as if a childhood superhero, he spoke with ironic awe.

"Supreme Commander Deiyuu is thought to have complete jurisdiction and as you probably know has gone to protect the borders from possible attacks but....that mission should have been completed a few months ago. Which means the entire city is left under his militarist command. And that terrifies me Aurora...and it should terrify you. He didn't seem to notice you earlier at the steps, and I recommend you keep it that way- if he knew he had a bloodbender within his midsts then....well then I don't think he would let anybody stop him." He bleakly said.

*Another lead fell flat on its face. That kid didn't help much at all, only led him to more construction work. Luke merely shakes his head as he walks towards his apartment, the street not only bustling with humans, but also with numerous spirits, a consequence of the Harmonic Convergence some time ago. Was it a year, some months... didn't matter. That kid... reminded him of his little brother, a boy named Benjamin, some eight years old. He vanished two months, eight days, seven hours, and fourteen minutes ago... he can never forget the time since his vanishing, haunted him into torment. One of the nine children kidnapped in the earth district, little Ba Sing Se as they used to call it. His mother cried the entire night, finding no sign of him in his room, his window opened with a single claw mark on the window sill.

For that matter, it was his little brother's dream to become a metal bender, to become a police officer, just like dad...*

*He passes the busy street and enters into one of the countless alleyways leading to little Ba Sing Se. One of the first lessons you learn as a street urchin is to avoid intersections at all costs, usually where the police are, and now that he's... without a family anymore, the last thing he wants are police harrassing him, especially as he has no voice to speak for him, and that's how many street urchins disappear. An old man lies near a garbage bin, resting his head on a nearby wall. Luke flips him a coin, and the old man catches it, a broken smiles cracking amongst his old, scraggy beard.

"Thanks sir" He calls out as Luke nods, passing the man. He enters the street, as he sees a spirit on a patch of grass:

*Luke looks both ways, seeing nobody on this block. The spirit doesn't notice him either, thus Luke decides to approach cautiously, using his fighting stance in case things went sour.*

"Didn't I say stop calling me street rat? Please. I don't think you'd like it if I called you fancy pants now would you. As for being a student medic, I was once a student of hers, yes, and I'm 21. And Rhama may not be a waterbender, but being 2nd Commander here obviously says he has connections. And you're right...things here look almost too perfectly covered up. And the fact that Deiyuu has been gone for that long is a very scary thought. Anyway, you're right. Let's retire to my place for the night. Master Pakku can wait until the morning."

"Follow me." She said, as she got on Borealis, as she motioned him towards the outskirts, moreover the outer wall of the city. A little while later after that, they reached what seemed to be just a large pile of snow. Once they neared it, Aurora got off Borealis, and motioned the snow to form into her igloo. She raised the entrance to allow Borealis to enter, and they went underground once more, Cassius once again tailing them.

Once they finished climbing down the stairs, they reached Aurora's den.

"Ah, it feels good to be home." And as she said that, the igloo that was above them, once again turned into a harmless pile of snow. "We're safe here, Cassius. No harm will come to us. You're welcome to stay here as long as you like. ^^" She said blissfully, glad to have returned to her humble abode. She was then reminded of what had transpired, and what they needed to do the next day. "So...on a more serious note...what's your hunch on what happened with Yagoda then...? And what should we ask/tell Master Pakku? And you also seem like you have something to ask me...unravel your thoughts to me if you don't mind."

As she finished her statements, she headed to her kitchen, and pulled out a large leg of buffalo yak for the four to share.

"I apologize if it's a little cold...it only got to defrost with my waterbending."

*The spirit flies towards Luke, circling around him as he continues his battle stance. It lands on its head and walks around on it for a moment before curling up to sleep. Luke smiles, and tries to sit down on a bench, perfectly comfortable for a change. The spirit, however, instead tilts its head upside down, staring into Luke's eyes. "Gah!" Luke cries as he falls backwards, landing roughly onto the bench. The spirit, becoming startled, then flies off into one of the alleyways, bumping into a wall while doing so. It shakes its head for a moment, then continues flying down the alleyway. Luke jumps off the bench and begins chasing the spirit, nearly tripping at first, but quickly regaining his balance, maintaining a speed equal to the spirit's flight.

Luke begins to wonder why he was chasing after this spirit, was it but another lead to him? But what could it lead him to? Truth? Love? His brother? His destiny? No, there truly wasn't a reason that day. It was ultimately just another escape, he thought too much of his brother today... nothing good comes from that.*
