Can someone please help make me an avatar as I'm new here! So I thought perhaps I could have an awesome ~ epic avatar?

how did you do the outline thing?

Oh well you have to download the pattern (I forget where I got it sorry) and then after you make the main imageclick that little "fx" icon at the bottom of the layers pannel and choose stroke. There should be an drop down bar and it will say color, gradient, pattern. Have it on pattern and then choose the downloaded pattern and it'll do that around the edges.
That is assuming you have Adobe CS4 or CS5...
