I think some of you remember this, but before it was "The Continuation of Destiny," but I just made a new title for it. :| Well, since it was pretty sucessful before, I figured I'd start over on it again. =/ Obviously, it's picking up where Avatar Book 3 left off. Enjoy ^^.

And I'd like some comments on you guys's opinions on how well or how horribly (hopefully the earlier lol) I did in capturing the whole "feel" of Avatar, for those who liked the show. Humor in writing is kind of tough for me. =/

The New World

He gripped both blades loosely in his hands. He broke into a quick sprint towards a total of 10 target dummies that were put into a circle. He skipped to the left, and then continued sprinting to avoid one dummy that had been blocking him from entering the circle. While passing the two of the dummies, one of which he had sidestepped to avoid, he held both blades out wide, cutting across each of the simultaneously. As he neared the center, his quick run slowed into a few steps as his swung both blades horizontally, making a large crescent-like blast of fire that cut across half of the remaining targets.

He quickly threw his blade out to one of the remaining four mannequins, and as soon as it was impaled, a large line of fire extended from his still outstretched throwing hand, grabbing around the blade. Quickly, almost effortlessly, he swung the blade around using the leash-like fire to control it. He looked over his shoulder towards his uncle, who stood still with both of his sleeves together concealing his hands.

Iroh smiled and nodded, “Not a single piece of fire remains. Your control is becoming better, Fire Lord Zuko.”

Bringing the dual blades together, and then putting them in the same sheathe, Zuko turned to address his uncle, returning the smile, “Uncle, you don’t need to call me that,” he said, an amount of bashfulness in his voice at the title “Fire Lord.”

“It is only customary for a subject to greet his king in such a way, nephew, I am no different.”

Zuko laughed at his uncle’s unending humbleness, “Whatever you say uncle.”

Iroh walked up besides Zuko and put a comforting hand on his shoulders, as they both turned and looked over their home, with pride in both of their eyes, from the elevated practice field on which they stood. So far had they come, so far had the world come. The banished prince was now the courageous king, taking a nation of hate and transforming it into one of joy. And the Fire Lord’s traitor and prisoner of a brother, had now been the proclaimed savior of Ba Sing Se, and its greatest tea maker.

Both of them sat down slowly, watching the sunset intently as both of their eyes
brightened with a bright red hue hue.

Iroh shook his head in disbelief, “Never did I think that this day would come. That the nightmare would end.”

Zuko’s smiled widened, “Neither did I uncle. Neither did I.”

Iroh and Zuko watched for only a little while longer before Iroh stood up, “Come nephew, we must see your friends off.”

Aang lay on Appa’s head in front of The Fire Nation Capital’s main entrance. He stroked his bison’s head softly, his other friends on top of Appa in the saddle, “I’m gonna miss you buddy.”

Appa gave a low purr-like roar in reply. On top of him sat Sokka, who had fallen asleep at one point or another, Katara who held Appa’s reins and their father, General Hakota of the Water Tribe.

Katara looked towards Aang with an almost sympathetic smile, “Don’t worry, we’ll take care of him,” she said comfortingly. Then she looked towards Toph, who was standing on the ground rather than on Appa, “You sure you don’t want to come with us Toph? There’s more
than enough room.”

Toph waved a dismissing hand towards her, “Nah, I’m ok. I’ve been getting a bit soft with all of this air travelling. If I keep sticking with Appa, I’ll end up like twinkle toes over there.”
They all shared a short laugh, and then turned as they heard the shifting of armor as guards in front of the gates bowed down to acknowledge their Fire Lord. Zuko looked at his friends, grinning broadly as he came closer to them. Iroh was close behind him, wearing a customary Earth Kingdom robe from Ba Sing Se. Aang hopped off of Appa, making air push under his cloak using it as a parachute.

“Can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think I’ll actually miss you guys,” Zuko said, letting a small chuckle escape him.

“Gee, thanks Zuko,” Aang answered, making an almost angry face.

Iroh interrupted, “So where will you all be going now?”

Toph answered first, “Home. It’ll be awkward, but I have to face them eventually. And I have a score to settle in that tournament.”

Hakota leaned forward, moving farther to the edge of Appa’s saddle for a better view of Iroh, “Katara and I are paying a visit to home as well, I bet Gran Gran misses you greatly by now,” he said, looking at Katara at the final thought. “Sokka said something about going to visit his some sword master, supposedly in the Fire Nation so hopefully not too far off. Now if he would just wake up then maybe he’ll be able to tell us where exactly we’re going.”

Iroh nodded, “And you Avatar?”

Aang thought for a moment, “I’m not really sure. I may visit the Guru, but for now, I think I’ll just leave with-”

As if directly on cue, an explosion could be seen in the sky, followed by the downward propelling of an eccentric, though old man, “Look out below!”

Aang took out his glider and spun it towards the air, making a vortex that slowed the man down, allowing him to land as gently as one could land face-first onto the ground.

“Woo, that was a close one!” The Mechanist said after the smoke cleared, wiping off his apron while leaning on one elbow.

Only a moment after he fell, not even giving any one of the companions time to question what had just happened, a young boy in a wheel chair came very quickly, pushing the wheels as fast as he could, “Dad! You ok!?”

“Oh... when am I not?” he replied.

“Your eyebrows!”

“What?” he said, looking towards his son and then towards the others who, after coughing from all of the smoke, were staring at his eyebrows. He felt the area directly over his eyes, “Oh... there they go again. Ah well, they grew back last time right!?”

Aang, along with all of the others who were almost dumbfounded by this entire encounter, immediately recognized these two as Teo, the young man in the wheelchair, and his father, known as the Mechanist. They all also seemed to notice the large mechanical wings strapped to the Mechanist’s back.

“What are you all staring at now? Oh, these things!” He said, grabbing one of the wings, one that was now torn at the top and in some other places, almost ready to fully destruct, “I’ve figured out an even more favorable way to fly! We’ll be like the birds themselves! Eh... with a few tweaks obviously.”

All of them, including Teo laughed at the Mechanist’s seemingly endless flow of ideas.

Sokka, propped himself up quickly, obviously now awake, and let out a prolonged yell, “Ah!”

Questioning faces turned towards him, “You guys didn’t hear that explosion!?” he yelled out.

Katara narrowed her eyes, “Aren’t you kind of late?”

Sokka shrugged, “That’s what I am, the sarcastic meat-eating late guy.”

Aang looked back to Iroh, “As I was saying, I’ll probably go with these guys,” he said, pointing a finger towards the Mechanist and Teo.”

Zuko nodded, “Our paths split once again, scattered over the globe. I will soon return to Ba Sing Se, and almost all of us will be on our own, but we must always remember that we are still together in heart.”

Toph looked towards Zuko, as though she could see, “Gee, that’s the deepest thing I’ve ever heard you say, sounds like something your uncle would say actually. You make it sound like something big is about to happen.”

Zuko chuckled, “With our luck, I wouldn’t be too surprised to find out that I was right for once.”

They all shared their final regards, and they all parted ways. The Mechanist using a chair-glider similar to Teo’s, Aang using his own manual glider both to the north, Toph walking down the only available path, and Katara, Sokka, and Hakota sitting comfortably on top of Appa.

This one day, marked an entirely different world.
