The recent chapter clearly stated that August is stronger than Irene. He toyed with Jellal and Oracion Seiz and on Top of that He also wasn't affacted by Larcade's Magic and called it pitiful while Irene was clearly affacted.

Such a shame that this is the case, as August is about the only Spriggan I can actually take seriously at this point.

Yup, although it may end up being talk no jutsu from Brandish or Lucy that stops him in the end. It's already been established that he is amenable to being reasoned with.

Wish Aconologica would just start wipin the floor with these tough guys/girls. But it would be cool to see Gildarts/Laxus fight him.

Madara was a long term Villain while August is a short term villain.While August is certainly powerful to completely wipe out the CS without taking any damage he still wont make the same impact on story as Madara did.
