please... don't overrate this series like SAO fanboy did
Agree! Though credits where it's due - SAO is pathetic compared to AoT. U_U

And if a current anime can do that to me then it's a freaked legend anime.
No, if a current anime does that, it's just that it's something to YOUR OWN taste. No need to give it legend status on your own.

AoT is good, but people need to stop comparing a show that has 7 episodes to one that has been running for 15 years. You may like it more than One piece, but that doesnt mean its better.
I agree. It's a great show (no 2 opinions on that) but...

1. It's ongoing.
2. It's only 7 episodes out of the 25 episodes planned to be aired.
3. There's still a long way and a series should be judged in its whole.

Remember Ao No Exorcist from 2 years ago? Well, it also planned 25 episodes, it was also ultra-hyped, it's manga was also very well-written, it's manga was also an ongoing monthly one. See the similarities with Shingeki no Kyojin?

For those who have read the Attack on Titan manga know that the story is very good and in fact, gets better but the monthly ongoing manga release remains an issue. Ao No Exorcist did a similar great adaptation, then it caught up pretty close to the manga... Unable to match the monthly slow pace release, it added a 8-episodes new ending to the story; which towards many fans remain an 8-episode filler completion to the series - as the manga is still ongoing and got great arcs.

I just hope Attack on Titan don't get the same fate. Sure, it got better story but also bigger hype. In case, the anime gets a rushed ending then the series will kinda falter. The higher the hype, the higher the disappointment could be, in case of a minor decrease in quality.

Personally speaking, I love the anime series; more than the manga because I don't like the art drawing style of Hajime-san. However:

1. It's not my favorite.
2. I do believe there are better series.
3. I refuse to rate it before the end of the series.

Also, I don't think it's as innovative as some people say though it's also not cliched. To its merits, I love the shounen approach that got a deft tone without much fanservice that is reminiscent to what FMA did. Love the oppression and realistic factor that is a bit close to Gurren Laggann but in Shingeki no Kyojin, there's more mature & poignant moments and more gore -- like much more gore and blood!! Also, love that it has such a strong female character like Mikasa in shounen which is awesome and highly creditable. Eren's loudmouth and 'I'll-just-kill-everyone-even-though-I'm-weak character is cliched but oh well... The concept is very good...All-in-all, that's how I view Attack on Titan.

As to the thread creator comparing to Top 3...well, I feel it's unfair and wrong. The Top 3 are lengthy series that have been airing since long time. Shingeki no Kyojin belongs to the new era of anime - an era that started around 2008/2009 where quality series are primed over quantity. But if you still want to make a comparison to deeply believe that Shingeki no Kyojin is so much better than the big 3, then take this into consideration:

OP and Naruto had good to decent openings, and it's over time that they reach their actual position. The durability was their forte. Bleach had also an ultra-strong opening episodes, like AoT, but it faltered gradually as arcs move on. And hereby, overall, Bleach never reach ultimate heights. All that to say that it's the finishing line that matters and that hyping AoT so much after that few episodes is uncalled for. And same for the comparison: Uncalled for and unnecessary. Make a verdict after everything is over.

don't worry about the "Anime catching up with the manga" Blue Exorcist is a special case, i mean the manga have yet to reach 30 chapte or less when they decided to animated the series, that's why its fail,

as of now SNK anime pace is getting slower since last week episode, its looks like the Anime studio wanted to prolong the current arc since after this there will be a lots of talking and so on, but soon after that you'll see the best arc of this series,
let me give you guys a hint, its the Arc where Mikasa and everyone else goes to TITAN HUNT outside the wall.

AoT is great, but far from the best anime ever. Cowboy Bebop, Champloo,Gurren Lagann,Yu Yu Hakusho, and FMA Brotherhood hold that spot.

I don't think it's such a special case. FMA Brotherhood also followed its own storyline after some point. Part of reason of why Bleach/FT were cancelled, is also due to the fact of how close it got to the manga. Not to say, there are so many similar examples. Elfen Lied, Rosario+Vampire, Yu Yu hakusho, Beelzebub ect...and many that I didn't watch probably!

And as you know, many series often could catch up to their mangas but producers use the 'Filler' option. Thing is, the hype of Attack on Titan is so huge that there'll be lots of rants in case of fillers or a break. Some even started ranting for Episode 6's flashbacks despite the fact that it was excellent.

Ao No Exorcist had 29 chapters when it started airing and it were at Chapter 34 when the last episode aired, if I remember correctly. And Shingeki no Kyojin barely got 15 chapters in addition.

Like suppose, it delivers a great 25 episode - there are big chances that it'll be renewed for a second season where there'll again be huge waiting as it'll end those 25 episodes on a cliffhanger. I won't hide it: I'll be pissed if they end this season before (or just after) the Female Titan appears. That'll suck to wait like a year or more...A bit how I feel with Kuroko no Basuke - ending the first season before Akashi's appearance, what the F**k!

Agree though, that the makers are trying not to merge 2 chapters in one episode to catch up as fast. However, maintaining this pace throughout is a big challenge. Up to them to step up on it on consistent basis! I personally think, it's unwise to animate an ongoing series; especially when it's a monthly manga. No wonders why eroges and light novels are getting priority on animation nowadays. They propose a complete storyline that remove lots of drawbacks.

what i mean with special case is Ao No Exorcist get an anime Adaption not long after the they get serialized, surely i don't know what the **** the editor in chief at Jump Square have in mind when he approved that proposal,

most of the anime that you mention up there ended not because its closing to the manga, series like YYH, Rosario vampire, Beelzebub etc, ended just because of low rating,

i doubt that Attack on titans will become a long running series that they will need some filler to fill the gap, am pretty sure it will become a seasonal anime,

and yeah i agree that i'll be ****ing pissed if they end this season without animating the tree of giants arc, from the moment i read that arc in the manga last year I've been itching to see how will they animate that arc.....
well i do disappointed with the way the end KNB S1 not because they didn't show Akashi but they end it before the winter cup qualifying....

well right now i only know 1 anime that have the balls doing 1 chapter per episode and that anime is the great One Piece

You're probably gonna say the same thing about AoT when an anime people are gonna overhype that crap outta shows up.
i can guarantee that this anime deserve it hype but not like the OP did in this thread....
this anime is nothing like SAO, and from now everything will get better and better

AoT isn't that damn good. Saying it's the best anime this year is biased, and that it beats Naruto, OP, and Bleach is just plain fanboying. It is exactly like SAO in that way. Shingeki no Kyoverrated because it's not even in top 100.

when did i say its the best ? or something like it beat the likes of One Piece ?
though i do agree that this anime is so far the best one in 2013, SAO overrating is different case, people who overrated SAO is bunch of MMORPG players and some pubescent brat whose yearning for cheesy romance,

and again this anime deserve it hype but not to the extent it bested the likes of One Piece.

umm..anyone knows the chapter release dates?I finish the 45 and i got to say that things will get more epic as it progresses!
Also i think that the anime does put the manga better chronologically,so you dont confuse as in the manga!

I wasn't saying you said it, and saying it'll the best '13 anime by far is extreme uneducated bias. #Gargantia
