I've had a few friends nagging me to watch this anime for a while, so over this past weekend I took the timeout to smash back all the episodes and even read all the current manga from 32-49. I must say, this series has been amazing so far. For anyone who hasn't read the Manga and doesn't want to have anything spoiled I recommend you stop reading her. Although I won't mention any spoiling information as such.

What I love about this series;

- Unlike a lot of other anime/manga, a lot of the important or good characters ACTUALLY DIE.

- No plot holes, or not that I've noticed? Everything that happens gets explained to make perfect sense to the series.

- The plot twists have been crazy and very unexpected (for most people I'm guessing?). They have completely surprised me and I've become very hooked, in only 2 days haha!

- It doesn't have a shit load of filler like Naruto.

- The flashbacks aren't so annoying like they are in Naruto, they are reasonably interesting and short.

- Fast plot progression.

- Personally I don't read the info they have in the breaks, but I like the idea that its available. It gives a lot background info to those who are interested.

- It has a sense of realism to it as all of the characters are reasonably normal looking, unlike a lot of animes with DBZ styled characters.

- The storyline is fairly original and 3D gear is very unique!

- The fighting is pretty good, and fair, the good and evil forces balance out.

- The effective use of graphic content. In this series it is actually used to draw out emotion from the characters, rather than to just be gruesome.

- The manga is drawn really well, unlike Naruto it involves a lot more detail... For me I find reading Naruto like a storyboard for the anime, whereas for A.O.T I actually get a good idea about whats going on in fights etc. When I read A.O.T manga I can imagine what it will look like in the anime a lot easier than I can with Naruto.

To be honest there is only one thing I dislike about this anime/manga, which isn't even the original creators fault. What I don't like is a lot of the poor translation. A lot of the manga has many problems with the translation that don't make sense, its not that big of a deal but I personally find the grammar pretty terrible. Also for me I find it annoying that the spelling for a lot of the characters (anime and manga) keep changing, or the whole name its self changes. Such as 'Erwin and Irvin', I mean, which one is it!? And Reiner and Ryner... Also, sometimes they call them titans and other times 'eotens', I just find it a little annoying.

Comment your opinions on this anime, what you like and dislike? Also tell what you agree and disagree with about my review? :)

I agree with everything here pretty much. I think it's a general consensus that AOT is the shiz, it had one of the few anime songs I've ever liked, it's creepy, dramatic, epic, and all around cool. The manga is intense, it just raises more questions as it goes and keeps you interested. Yeah AOT def gets a 10/10 in my book

Totally agree man. I like the song for the opening surprisingly. Not usually into the anime songs, although I still skip the opening haha. Sometimes I hear a little and enjoy it for a few seconds ahah.

1: did they? I thought that only a lot of minor characters died
2: a huge plot holes within 50 chapters? Not one manga had accomplished that
3: that is true
4: so what in Naruto were fillers? Let me guess the filler arcs, also the first 50 chapters, 20 episodes of Naruto didnt contained a lot of filler. Also AoT anime does contain filler.
5: so far they have nothing to show as a flashback except for BG info...
6: so does Naruto when you skip the manga for 3 weeks and then read 4 chapters at the 4th week
7: learn the term "translator notes"
8: A LOT of manga/anime have realistic looking humans... also Krillin looked like a human to me.
9: that is true
10: not really, the collosal titan can beat pretty much everyone at this point of the story (both manga and anime)
11: A lot of mangas do so...
12: that is just your opnion, I can follow the fights in Naruto pretty easy, but yeah I have read a lot more mangas then you did

You have only compared AoT with Naruto (started like 15 years ago) which had it glorious days, but is now getting lamer. And with Dragon Ball which is +20 years old. If I were you, I would use some other manges to compare AoT with, AoT's first chapter was released in 2011 and the first chapter of Naruto and Dragon Ball was released in the previous century.

manga is shit, and way too over-rated,and no where near naruto's first 121 chapters, which are equivalent to 49 chapters of aot in terms of page count.

but anime rocks, again only due to it's animation and ost again.

Pretty darn great plot twist huh? I think I read the manga for about 3 hours straight yesterday... ;o Had to sacrifice a day of LoL for it but it was well worth it! Very excited for next chapter

Sorry but you lost me here, Attack on Titan is a fun show but (other than awful mikasa) the 'twists' are like the biggest problem with the show. The identity of the female titan was ridiculously obvious, so much so that it was frustrating that only Armin worked it out after it'd gotten away. The upcoming twist about the titans is also amazingly easy to guess and I got it about 2-3 episodes in. The only good twist is the Eren being eaten twist because it's so powerful, the second the black haired titan appears it becomes obvious though.

1. Yeah well maybe not necessarily major plot characters, but those of high skill..
2. Yeah but their could have been plenty about annie, reiner and berthold, but the author made sure he didn't screw it up.
3. :)
4. Yeah but Naruto has the same friggen flashbacks all the friggen time!
5. Yeah but the flashbacks they use often show new interesting facts, whereas in ^^ they just repeat..
6. I guess so, but I just like the 40 page chapters and the skipping of months/years to speed up the process. But that wouldn't have been effective in Naruto :p
7. Umm??
8. Ofcoarse krillin looked normal, his part wasn't to look like a badass haha!
9. :)
10. No because he is super friggen slow..
11. A lot just use gruesome shit to make the show graphic rather than giving it meaning..
12. I can on Naruto too, I just find that AoT can give you a great idea of what the anime well turn out like :)

Yes I suppose this is true but I haven't watched shit loads of anime, only like 5 different ones, and only 2 of which that I've read the manga. So yeah, I know I'm no expert :p

Yes it's awesome but it's still the most overrated anime/manga imo
Yeah I've seen better fighting etc, but I just like the plot twist, thats what's made it for me :D

Agree Agree Agree!

My mates told me to read it and I was hesitant at first but I've now read all of the chapters...

They told me last week
Keen been like me :D

I agree it was obvious about Eren being the titan when that titan happened to appear.. But it was still a twist that he got eaten and didn't come back for like 2 episodes.. And I knew it was Annie once it started fighting, but prior to that I was shocked. The later 2 being titan though.. You must be a genius, because I honestly think that was a shock to the majority of the readers.

Also..
I'm sure you weren't expecting the monkey to talk? Or the titan Connie said looked like his mother to speak? I know it became predictable Ymir was a titan, but not when we first knew her on the show? And the titans in the wall and the wall cult guy knowing about it and many secrets (that we are still yet to learn) was a big twist? And I sure as hell don't think you were expecting to see the titan that ate Eren's mother? I knew it was gonna happen eventually.. But not then and there? :L

what made it for me is the animation and the fights, otherwise I don't particularly like it because I just don't really care for any of the characters, the story is good but not great and I don't particularly care for gore and everyone dying, I know everyone is complaining if manga doesn't have enough deaths because it ''makes no sense'', but I don't thing that is an issue at all, I think there are some problems that are much bigger than that, anyway while I really like AOT I stand by my statement that it is the most overrated anime/manga atm, except maybe DBZ

Haha, in the end DBZ was really terrible and no one noticed until they started other animes haha! But I guess it was like the opening to anime or atleast fighting animes so yeah :) I kind of feel the same though, I don't really like any of the characters heaps, they're all just rather average. Except Captain Levi, he's a ****ing beast! :D

don't get me wrong Levi and Mikasa are freakin' beasts but I just don't care for them, on the other side ... say Nami, Usopp and Chopper aren't exactly at the top strength wise but I care a lot about those characters

I just don't care about a manga/anime as much if I don't care about the characters :)

Hey, I haven't actually read those manga chapters because I prefer watching it every week than every month so please be nice with spoilers. The twist about the titan's human origins was guessable, I even suggested it to myself at episode 3 because some titans looked eerily similar to some of the characters. (I swear there were ones that looked like Armin & Sasha)
I only know the spoiler because I suggested it and someone told me I was right. Which was a bit sad.

It's just they really shouldn't have made Annie's identity so obvious, they could've easily disguised it. It's just when the Opening, the characters around, the titan's design and attitude is all screaming a certain character, it ruined what could've been a really cool twist.

I feel ya dude, though I dot know the characters you mentioned? I don't really feel for the characters in this so much as well but I may do in time :)

I did use spoilers? I didn't reveal any info in the top half except for was already in the anime? But I kinda get what ya mean

I agree with you, except...
"It doesn't have a shit load of filler like Naruto."

Naruto has 330 episodes ... and Attack on Titan has a whopping total of, wait for it,... 25 episodes....

Those to Anime(s) shouldn't be compared like that.
