At first I was really hyped about aot but when I really thought about it I realized I enjoy the likes of OP (which is unrivaled), Fairy Tail, Naruto ... A LOT more

It's definitely an enjoyable series but I do agree to an extent that it's overrated.

It's less that it's "worse" than people are giving it credit for and more that people are hailing it way too much way too early. Not even halfway through it's already in the top 10 series of MyAnimeList and I've seen some people say "best anime of 2013" in spite of the year just barely coming to the halfway point now. The only thing I can describe that as is bandwagoning to the extreme. I won't deny that it's a good series, and I'm a fan of the manga and really enjoyed that. But when the manga (which is the source material, much further in, and at the moment a lot better BECAUSE it has developed more of the story) has a lower score than the anime adaptation on MAL, something doesn't feel right.

To be fair I actually enjoy Shingeki a lot more than DBZ. That said though I have read the manga which is MUCH further in, whereas the anime it's still way too early for anyone to say it's "masterpiece material" or anything like that without even being halfway through.

But honestly those two are both very different series that shouldn't be compared in the first place. They're both action series and apparently they have the Shounen demographic (which still doesn't make sense to me with Shingeki) but they're hardly alike and appeal to different groups. In my opinion Shingeki has a lot more to offer (a dynamic cast, a constant mystery about the largely unknown world established, great plot twists, etc.) but different people like different things.

AOT is great but ppl do hype up too much. The anime is great but manga much better in my opinion
I don't think ppl should be comparing to the big 3 because it doesn't have enough episodes or chapters yet and everyone likes something different

AoT is VERY very good, but also overrated. I do understand why though.


The pacing is slow. This month chapter was so "IDGAF".


Edit: It's also good, but it's still to early to compare it to others. Gantz is similar to AoT and it was good. But as story goes on it kind of declines. Who knows? Same might happen to AoT. That happens a lot with ongoing manga. Either it starts off good, then start slowing down. Or start off bad(boring), then start getting good.
