It is important to know both to get a full understanding of history...soon as I learned about the islands and people in the East Indies specifically Indonesia and Papua New Guinea my understanding of the world grew.
History really isn't important other than for trivial knowledge.

^^^Now those were 5 minutes of my life that were ill-spent.
For starters you don't get eye openers of watching 5 minute YT vids unless you're an extremely susceptible person. Secondly that vid didn't say concrete whatsoever about the trans-Atlantic slave trade. The first half is a scene from the movie Inglorious Bastards and an extract from Martin Luther King's speech. The second half is just someone showing random pictures and asking weird questions with a lack of any kind of context nor a point that's trying to be made.
The same way how the foundations of a building aren't necessary and are just there for show.
