Well what if everything was just a dream?

Naruto then wakes up looking up at the sky covered in blood. Then tilts his head to see Kakashi fighting and then losing and getting killed. Sasuke hanging over Naruto impaled with knives and swords. Sakuras already dead.

And Naruto just dreamt up everything since he was dying.

The first mission of Team 7 was a disaster.
