Now I know it was stated in the manga that Asuma is a wind release user but I think It's more complex than that. First let's take a look at his jutsu:

Fire Release: Ash Pile Burning Jutsu
You must be registered for see images

The user spews a stream of chakra infused gun-powder from their mouth, which surrounds the region. As the gunpowder is composed entirely of ash, it stays in the air around the victim like a cloud, which can be used like a smokescreen. After surrounding the enemy with the ash, the user can ignite it with a flint placed on their teeth beforehand to create a spark, resulting in a violent explosion, burning the enemy. However, this technique requires keen senses to read the air currents, the insight to read the movements of the enemy, the tactical experience to not also enfold one's allies in the flames, and careful attention for the timing of the ignition.
Wind Release: Dust Cloud Technique.

This technique creates a stream of high-velocity wind containing dust particles, capable of decimating anything caught in it in only a matter of moments. The completed technique is directed through vertically overlapped hands that are placed in front of the user's mouth after forming the necessary hand seals.

Both those techs are serious trouble. They're not like any wind or fire jutsu we've seen before. I believe Asuma Sarutobi is a user of a KKG called "Ash Release", the mix of fire and wind. I believe those two don't have an existent element. I just find it too hard to believe that he became a 12 guardian shinobi, the equivalent of the 7 swordsmen of the mist, except serving the Land of Fire, by simply using flying swallow. Also I think his frequent smoking was a signal to us about his abilities.
His jutsu resembles actual Ash way more than wind or fire.

That's just fire.
Kinda like how the Hidden Mist Jutsu that uses Mist instead of regular water.

There's no way a guy with a KKG would get beat by Hidan. Then again, he is a Sarutobi, so...

Seriously though, no. It's not a KKG. It's fire. His main chakra nature is Wind. Why not accept what the manga says?

I believe wind is his nature's affinity but he's learned fire style, similar to how sasuke's affinity was lightning, but he learned fire style

He has two natures. Also, fire and ash AREN'T the same thing. And if we accepted everything in the manga this would be no fun now would it?

Mist is just water vapor. Ash is completely different than fire. If you're correct what KKG is made up of fire and wind in your opinion? Firewind?

Yeah he has both though his main is Wind as far as I know. Also that jutsu would be noted as ash release if that's what it was but it is instead noted as fire.

He's a wind user. That ash thing is probably a combination of fire style and the ciggaretes that he smoked (LAWL).

ur taking this too seriously

So I get put down for wanting to discuss Asuma's jutsu and I "take it too seriously" But people can make 10s, 100s of threads about Juubito and Madara and they don't take it too seriously? Everyone has a character they like discussing and if you don't want to discuss Asuma then you shouldn't of clicked on the thread in the first place. Thank you.

*sigh* I know. I was simply hinting it's possible he could mix the two for a KKG. I know what elements he uses.

I highly doubt it. Don't you think if he could he would have used it by?

We've still never seen a KKG that combines Wind and Fire so that could be ash
