Asuma also has wind nature, he can use win + fire to power it up to draw back water (maybe). Fire > Wood. Earth is mutual.

But fire is not something that burns wood in an instant ...Madara also had katon + his war fan to increase its power but hashirama defeated him...but dont involve this fight into asuma vs yamato...water is still > fire
