For the posters who believe Asuma wins easily, may I ask for some additional support for your claims? It seems inaccurate to claim that Asuma would easily defeat Kabuto when he is not only one of the most intelligent characters in the manga, but was able to effectively fight Tsunade, a Sannin, in hand to hand combat (a skirmish in which Tsunade admitted Kabuto rivaled her combat skills in her prime) and immediately dispatched a Jonin (Shizune) in hand to hand combat as well during the same battle. On top of this, Orochimaru stated he was at the level of Kakashi around part 1, who is far stronger than Asuma.

I fail to see how Kabuto would not win with fairly low difficulty, although I am open to being proven wrong if anyone can provide evidence for otherwise.

Kabuto isn't skilled in taijutsu. He'll get smashed like how Mike Tyson KOed dudes in his prime. He beat Tsunade cause of her fear of blood. Its a cop out victory.

Orochimaru and Jiraiya both said Kabuto was as strong as Kakashi.

Kabuto was able to effectively fight Tsunade, a Sannin, in hand to hand combat, and in the same fight immediately dispatched Shizune, also a Jonin as is Asuma, with a single technique. My first question to you is, how do Kabuto's feats fail to measure up to the Sannins' claim?

Kabuto seems incredibly skilled and powerful to get such high acclaim from all three Sannin, as well as hold his own during a fight with one, and defeat an elite Jonin without effort.

My second question is, how do you reconcile these facts with the idea of Asuma standing a chance against Kabuto?
