1: Shikamaru starts up his shadow possession jutsu (hand sign)

2/3: Asuma and Hidan have their eyes on each other

3/4: Hidan has 1 of the 2 kunai swords that he received from Izumo and Kotetsu in his hand and Asuma has his chakra blade with wind chakra set

5: Both clash evenly at each other

Both Asuma and Hidan are relative at this point

6: Hidan stands on 1 leg presumably after jumping back as shown by the little dust flicker and getting set to go into the air. The broken kunai blade that Asuma cut falls in front of Hidan more to the left

You must be registered for see images

7: Asuma continues to run forward with wind chakra set

8: Shadow possession jutsu isn't up in the air but it goes behind the kunai as the broken kunai blade had hit the ground

9: Hidan throws the other kunai sword and Asuma is crouching down with wind chakra set off. Most of the shadow strings from Shikamaru shadows possession jutsu is below Hidan and the long string is shown to not even be at his opened cloak. The shadows are clearly just gotten really up and is front of Hidan.

Asuma takes the lead because cutting a Kunai disarms sn opponent reguardless. Hidan never actually dodged Shikamaru shadows because Shikamaru simply couldn't keep up. Hidan had actually jumped closer towards Shikamaru so the fact he couldn't really get the shadows all up to Hidan shows Hidan had no trouble there. Asuma doing the WA could also dodge Shikamaru shadows so it quite doesn't matter.

10: Asuma instantly sets wind chakra Hien attack instantly up to cut the thrown kunai sword in to two pieces when it got closer.

11. Asuma has his right hand up with blade and left hand at his stomach with his other blade. The scythe comes near Asuma from being undetected by him with the support of the kunai sword being thrown from Asuma to cut.

12: Izumo warns Asuma by telling his name

13: Hidan gets the scythe even closer

14: You can see Hidan jump down on 1 leg with the rope forms a semi-circle to the right as Hidan jumped more to the left. Asuma reacts and clashed with the scythe as the handle top of the kunai sword is still in mid air. Also Asuma is clearly put up into air as well as his feet are up. Shikamaru shadows are on panel and clearly are away from Hidan

15: Asuma is still clashing with the scythe

So far Hidan it appears Asuma leads with cutting down 2 weapons and Hidan piercing at Asuma's cheek.

16: Blood spills from a nic on Asuma's left upper side of his cheek

17: Shikamaru still using shadow possession jutsu and says ugh showing a word of probably not good

18: you can see the the little dust jump in between shadows and Hidan having his feet up showing he jumped away from the shadow but the rope isn't extended back into Hidan's hand instead it's still extended towards Asuma's direction???

Hidan did have to jump away from the shadows but most likely when Asuma had been already cut.

Hidan then goes on to do his ritual by deflecting Asuma fire jutsu back against Asuma

How does the analysis really end there with Hidan getting blood? NO

Frames 10–18 plz read: After Asuma cut wind chakra off with a honed wind chakra attack immediately. Asuma had his wind chakra completely set off. Hidan scythe gets closer and closer because the fact Asuma had cut the kunai unaware of the scythe atm and Izumo attempts to warn him by screaming his name. Asuma had no choice but to clash with Hidan's Scythe. However this potentially could be that Asuma had to quickly react or Asuma was fine with clashing the scythe. When Asuma clashes with Hidan you see the shadows are away from Hidan but after Asuma is cut you see Hidan rope still extended out but the shadows had reach Hidan that he had to jump away from the shadows. How is this possible how did the the shadows just get this close???

Well on frame 14: The sythe attacks at a horizontal angle like a flat plate. The longest blade from the scythe appears to reach Asuma'd face but what people don't see if you loom closer is that the outline isn't the scythe rather Asuma's arm. Asuma blade goes between the the 2 longest blades of the scythe showing to pop out between them.

15: The scyhe is now vertical with the second longest blade having most likely pressuring Asuma skin but blood not fully released. The longest blade is behind Asuma ear and the shortest blade is potentially behind the arm. How that is possible is pretty unknown myself or I simply don't get what form could that be possible. However pay attention the chakra blade it doesn't go between the blade but it looks rather like Asuma is pressuring against the lines of the bottom 2 blades or the shorter 2 blades from the scythe.

16: blood has really spilled from

17: The shadows are again closer to Hidan to the point Hidan jumped and the scythe not fully pulled in knowing the shadows aren't particularly fast from a distance when Asuma clashed with the scythe the shadows were clearly far

How did the shadows get so close???

Asuma was never cut on frame 14 because you can tell from the position to frame 15. As stated by Kishimoto the scythe actually has many tricks. I believe and pretty certain that Hidan scythe can change position on doing a clash. Meaning Hidan scythe was horizontal when it clash but changed to being vertical. Even then Asuma still seem to pressure against the scythe piercing at the skin. Until frame 16. Meaning Shikamaru shadows got extremely closer to Hidan having to jump because Asuma had pressured against the scythe.

Shown on frame 6 and on this image above it's pretty clear by Hidan reaction and play that he doesn't even want to have Asuma to get within close combat. This is is even after Asuma was set into the ritual and Asuma was already burned that when Asuma ran at him with wind chakra Hidan makes a reaction and stabs his leg even at his huge advantage. Asuma was able to scare off Kisame from melee showing how dangerous Asuma truly was with close combat.

The picture above shows Asuma is blitzed and completely back towards facing the circle and then Kakazu stomps down with his knee.

Frame 1: Asuma watched Hidan waiting for him to get closer

Frame 2: chakra sword appears

Frame 3: Hidan quickly notices

Frame 4: Given that Asuma's wind chakra makes sound and is visible that it's potential that Hidan jumped out of it as it appears his feet is in the air and flicker he jumped from is clearly in Hien's range. Meaning Hidan jumped over Hein before it was fully launched which does mean he dodge it. You can't dodge something that already extended completely on impact at you. You can see the spear Hidan uses to be litteraly thrown and is literally no more then a few inches or less from Asuma face as Hien is still extended on.

Frame 5: from such close proximity Asuma is able to avoid with spear passing his shoulders by a smidge.

Frame 6: Shikamaru screams behind you

Frame 7/8: The scythe gets closer and closer behind and towards Asuma as he looks behind alarmed.

Frame 9: Blood spills

10/11 Asuma had dodged the spear and scythe used at close proximity to be point Hidan was completely impaled by the scythe

Asuma is unaware about Hidan going back into the ritual would continue the ritual and so potentially Hidan allowed the scythe to be impaled in case something went wrong.

1. Hidan can beat Asuma with any weapon- This is popular on a post but it's crazy how wrong this take is.

Feats and Protrayal: Asuma was easily cut by Hidan in a short exchange. While dealing with Shikamaru shadows

D(T)A- Asuma was able to cut a Kunai sword thrown by Hidan and then block the scythe as it was already in close proximity to the point as when they clash the kunai top was still in mid air. Asuma actually initially protected himself from getting cut. It's directly shown that Hidan changed the direction of the scythe during the exchange. Then after Asuma had his jutsu damage and hole in the leg reflected back to Asuma himself and then blitz and slammed by Kakazu. Gathered enough strength to dodge Hidan's spear in close proximity when it was right at his face and then dodge Hidan's Scythe in timing of the scythe as an attempt to suprise Asuma but Asuma is able to duck it down.

Feats and Protrayal (Mindset)- It's shown Hidan beat Asuma even with support. So it doesn't matter what weapon Hidan uses that he would win.

D(T)A (Mindset)- Hidan couldn't even initially tag Asuma despite the close proximity of the scythe. He had to change the direction of the scythe on the clash to achieve getting blood from Asuma. This is without knowledge which could rise many cases to the possibility if Asuma had set wind chakra on the other blade and why it wasn't set. After Asuma was burned and he dropped his blade he used at first that Asuma was able to swirl his chakra blade around with his finger and then activate his blade to a longer length then beforehand and when running towards Hidan was carving the wind chakra to a buzzsaw like chakra shape. Telling a higher power and sharpening of the blade. When Hidan is captured we see Asuma blades instantly activate then gets longer with the grey scaled color which represents high concentrated amount of chakra in a small area. Then quickly sharpens to that on the lines similar to Rasenshuriken. Which would obviously take an incredible amount of skill. I say Asuma didn't have his wind chakra on for a variety of possible reasons on his other blade but again people forget it was no knowledge and did technically defend against the scythe. So it can open up some honest reasons that could be for a later reason or whatever because again most weapons don't need a single drop of blood and then voodoo kill someone lol.

Most weapons used by Hidan would completely fail. I'll go with Zabuza sword people on a post was implying could do the trick. Asuma waited for the Kunai sword to get close before striking I'm arms extended range. We also see Asuma and Hidan evenly clash as well. Zabuza sword would not allow him to manipulate Hidan to use that weapon to get in a range that's closer then close arm combat but direct close proximity and then doesn't have the ability to change direction in theory so even if he could Asuma would still block. Also the range play when Asuma jumped across given their clash he runs with wind chakra on but sets it off to wait as he crouches down before setting a wind extension instantly as the Kunai sword is in reach. Then we see Asuma extend his chakra extension longer in the second exchange. So without the scythe and rope it's high possible that Asuma would have continued a cqc exchange with his chakra blades or extend as Hidan runs at him. Without the range it puts Hidan himself and any close range weapon he uses at a risk of getting cut up. It's possible that even tho Asuma is injured and a standing position would make it harder to avoid that Hidan had knowledge of Asuma's Hien as he had continued to his spear.

2. Hidan was dealing with Asuma while avoiding or dodging Shikamaru Shadows.

Feats and Protrayal- It's clearly shown on panel that Hidan was having to out of his way to dodge the shadows and was dueling Asuma in the mix. (not word by word but the gist of it)

D(T)A- Often times they show a clear frame that they believe shows Hidan dealing with both Asuma and Shikamaru dodging the shadows but often exaggerated and not well thought into proper expectation as well. Hidan had knowledge of Shikamaru's shadows it's quite clear as he was already caught into the jutsu and looked below to see the shadows that was released because of Kakazu. Hidan had jumped back when Asuma and him clash and then set into the airm Shikamaru shadows arrive. When people look and analyzed carefully they would see that Hidan and Shikamaru shadows weren't even on the same lane. This is because Hidan jumped further back from the kunai that dropped and was more towards the left direction. Then on top of that it's shown to have the image compacted by Asuma's side view. The shadows were still not fully up when Hidan had already had his scythe around the long shadow strand pissing it up and with kunai sword being already thrown on that panel. Shikamaru shadows simply weren't fast enough nor can it just change direction and go up into the air as instantly as people would assume. In fact let's continue. When Asuma and Hidan clash that Shikamaru shadows stands higher and the direction after Hidan that Hidan was completely away from the shadows. Then with the rope still extended after clashing with Asuma. That Hidan evaded the shadows.

This is the problem with many Naruto fans they often straight off read and don't take time to visually see the manga to read and read-predict fights. Most people don't know a lot of it is off panel as they draw the main exchange portion of the fights frame by frame. This is cause they can't draw movements by moments. Which is why the directions are always completely different or may substitute multiple attacks on one frame. Then their are expectations which is completely ignored. Hidan is someone who on accounts shown a few times to be capable to adapt and set plan his style of attack. Shikamaru shadows were not slowing him down or where they a huge distraction. It's rather that Hidan knows how to handle himself in such situations so not to underestimate him just because people want to blatantly underestimate him. Asuma cqc wasn't bad or weaker because of this it's simply that Hidan was skilled to not allow it to put down his skills in cqc.

In fact I'll go further in the next one below

3. Asuma couldn't cut Hidan once and Achieved nothing on his own as compared to Hidan.

Feats and Protrayal- Hidan got Asuma's blood

D(T)A- Asuma cut down 2 kunai swords and clashed with Hidan twice. Those are litteraly feats that would render ninjas with less weapons. If Hidan didn't have range and clashed with the scythe that scythe could be cut in half give or take on your protrayal believe of that scythe. The reason Asuma doesn't get a cut without the help of Shikamaru is because Hidan's Scythe was extended and he threw a kunai sword and Asuma crouched and waited for the Kunai. Which later afterwards Asuma gets cut. Asuma wasn't bad in cqc and arguably given range would have trouble catching Hidan but still has the reaction to handle Hidan's cqc in a natural sense unless he cut the rope but if Asuma was able to intercept a blitz from Kakazu. Same person who on multiple panels shows relative speed to Hidan. Who's jutsu couldn't tag Team 10 much as they avoided the fire mask. That Asuma wouldn't be able to instantly rush that distance rather yes he can compare to lower level ninjas but against an S-rank ninja similar to the likes of other battles it might not be the easiest or safest case. Even someone like Hebi Sasuke (vs Deidera) relied on Shunshin on occasion to cut distances and not something other characters can do compare to similar levels of their own. So again comes down to logical expectation. Asuma wasn't bad in cqc rather the opposite was very good but didn't rush in and crouched down to wait for the Kunai sword which could be a game plan in his mind. Hidan also wouldn't cut the distance in a similar situation without his rope of course. So rather it's true that Asuma couldn't cut Hidan once you have to look at it by their kits. Hidan had range that's pretty good and sets the distance between the two and Asuma even with hien is a close range cqc specialist. He wasn't going to be the flash and cut that distance. Between the level of S-rank as shown with Kisame and Hidan is that Asuma does well but even in certain situations characters can't simply pull off random things. Then after words Asuma was injured and gets further injured. So it's not fully a con Asuma of his abilities just against this fight situation that he couldn't cut Hidan on his own rather realistic and one of Hidan's advantages that could arguably be set down if it was the scythe alone as the rope and scythe could be cut down.

More example to expectation
4. Kakashi was dealing with Hidan with just a kunai who was having support.

Feats and Protrayal- Kakashi was blocking of Hidan while Kakazu was using his elemental masks and Hidan couldn't get a cut with masks supporting him.

D(T)A- If you learn to read the manga details like the running waves and swings. If you know what I'm talking about they have signs like flickers and etc drawn in the manga to support the movements and attack movements and etc. Hidan runs in a straight horizontal line up along the tree in a short distance and drags Kakashi up with three clashes. Kakashi is someone who possess, mastered, and got praise by Itachi on his ability with the 3t Sharigan an ability that helps with pre-reading attacks and etc. Yes Kakashi could react but that's all he possibly could do as he if he could retract back because most ninjas wouldn't want to be dragged up by their opponents. I mean Kakashi himself said Hidan was strong a term that means a great physical power. Yes Hidan uses a scythe but weapon sizes and how it wields means alot in battle.
"It was with just a kunai man if he had an actual weapon then he would have easily dealth with Hidan stop trying with your BS". Weapons consist of many factors and mastery. Such statement disregards different sword style mastery, what could be achieved with a believe suitable weapon for a individual, and the pros and cons of the weapon being wield. Unfortunately Kakashi doesn't use Hien so all metal sided weapons has some good use and cons. I'll make a post about it for sure.

Sorry for the long post but let's continue. The wind mask didn't blast it's self until after Hidan had swung Kakashi along the tree. Hidan didn't have support in this case rather he was the support to allow Kakazu to set up the mask. The mask pushed back Hidan and Kakashi not displaying another clash which would possibly or could hinder both of their mobility in using a weapon but even if not still doesn't increase Hidan's cqc abilities or amp them up. Again their are expectations that are realistic of support in possible cases. Yes Kakashi was looking at Kakazu's fire technique but when Hidan appeared from behind during his flicker Kakashi notices it and pulls out a kunai and gets himself to a tree. Kakashi regained focused and they didn't clash until they reached the tree. Hidan never had direct support from Kakazu. In the second encounter given their less shown on what exactly occured there are different things that can be opposed but that Hidan still clashes up with Kakashi. Hidan and Kakashi did what would logically be expected as people don't get Kakashi isn't a power fighter like Kakazu and Kisame rather he's highly skilled which is different in the manner of manipulating a power that poses a threat vs being skilled to not be dragged against such threat. Which is within Kakashi character wielding the Sharingan.

6. Kakashi can beat Hidan while Asuma can't?
Feats and Protrayal- Kakashi had the better protrayal and was 1 v 2 as Asuma had 2 v 1.

D(T)A- Still wouldn't change the expectation of both Hidan and Kakashi

Asuma vs Hidan (vs Kakashi)- (Rope cut) Kakashi had set up his watch on Hidan before clashing and in this situation has knowledge. In a situation that doesn't oppose the best knowledge for Hidan as I don't think Hidan had a ability and skill guide on Kakashi. That Asuma would be able to react to Hidan scythe as he does on frame. Without rope reguardless of made up thoughts to put Hidan above Asuma would just get cut down. Asuma has the advantage to not have to deal with extra weapons and deal with range. This allows Asuma who could deal with Hidan attacks getting around blind sided for Asuma and still reacting and not having to deal with a change in position. Asuma could also extend his chakra blades like he would've when he sharpen his blades to a buzzsaw or Hien extension that would pose higher benefits in their cqc exchange. Their quite more advantages then disadvantages in this case that by performance is recognized. Asuma clash Hidan with his blade tagging up so with a chakra sword style would not only cut down a kunai but could pose risk to Hidan get cut up along with it.

Kakashi vs Hidan (vs Asuma)-

Rope- Kakashi will have to close the gap between the rope to Hidan. He has to deal with logically extra weapons as Hidan manipulates the scythe which could pose situation where Kakashi has to react in closer measures then he does in normal cqc from one in coming attack to the other. On top of that Kakashi doesn't have a cutting weapon technique like Asuma so if he has to in character with no knowledge react to to the scythe it would have the scythe possibly in even closer measure and wielding a sword weapon would render the quick mobility as well. Their is also catching Hidan in the air.

Killing Hidan- people don't get that Hidan has good Regen and pain tolerance. Reguardless of the weapon it's gonna pose trouble to cut down Hidan as regular cuts would get healed by the body and ignored while decapitation is immensely harder.

Also most of Kakashi arsenal is gonna be useless given Hidan's body and Ability-

Fire- Would be useless as Hidan tanked Asuma's Katon a Sarutobi elite member that specialized in fire style and by statement of going to kill Hidan would tank Kakazu's katon so by measure it's not favoring Kakashi to pose much of a threat.

Wind- Consist of a mastery and sharpening of the wind technique that would not only cut but severe Hidan down. As Kakashi mention one of the very few wind users was Asuma. So Kakashi didn't even have wind and likely wasn't even in scale to Asuma by the chance he did.

Water- This would add for style versatility but it's hard to wager that even with his best water technique like copying the water dragon jutsu or shark technique if it would crush down Hidan. Also the risk of hand signs being Hidan is a weapon fighter which goes for most jutsus.

Earth- None would be useful as the ones shown by Kakashi are mostly grounded and earth wall underestimates Hidan has a second bar of rope so would just extend around the wall to suprise Kakashi.

Lightning- A hard technique to manipulate especially in this period in time still. Manipulating Chidori would pierce Hidan heart but that's if he can manage tagging him with completely alone. Which shouldn't be the easiest arguement to believe he flatout can. Extending lightning might not effectively pierce and especially cut down when needing precision on top of that. Hidan had healed from full on sword piercings from his heart and spinal cord. If Hidan gets Raikari their is possible case that Hidan who dealth with the pain of Hien manages to take that advantage of fear and body range to get blood from Kakashi. The idea without knowledge Kakashi Raikari off Hidan's head is just a bit doubtful.

Clones- Wastes Chakra and might not be effective as people may assume arguably.

Outside of MS Kamui their isn't the most that Kakashi can effectively do to take down Hidan. So he would have to rely on skill, intelligence, and his chakra reserves to be maintained.

Feats and Protrayal is often used to just generally scale and ignores capabilities of ninjas and overrides logical expectation that could be achieved but rather just wapping the idea that the fight would would have a certain character winning with difficulty without recognizing what would cause that difficulty.

Note: Not using theory to not be factual but in the matter certain circumstances didn't occur and many factors could change things entirely.
