What are your guys thoughts on him i think he's underated and got screwed over by plot twice i think he was konahas 3rd best jounin after Kakashi and Guy

He lost against Hidan yes, a shinobi who Asuma had no knowledge of and couldnt die. Hidan may not have been the most powerful member of Akatsuki but still a troubling and worthy advisary. Asuma was a reknowned Jounin and I dont think hes overrated nor under, but still a shinobi worthy of his rank and any titles he may hold.

he could have easily killed hidan if he knew hidan's secret
kakuzu called him one of the gold or silver pieces of the war

I agree. Also hidan was an s rank criminal. Strong enough to join akatsuki he wasn't fodder either

He only lost to Hidan because he had no intel on him.

Asuma was good, not the best, not top 25. Maybe not even top 50. But he had no character development, and wasn't a major side character.
Commendable traits would be his nature type, control, and strategy. If Hidan wasn't Immortal, he'd have won, simple.
