Why wasn't he jailed or killed after the war? Why didn't Naruto or Sasuke go after him? Why didn't Kabuto go after him (Kabuto seemed to dislike Oro during the end of the war).

It just doesn't make sense... Especially the dialogue:

-Naruto knows the whereabouts of Orochimaru's location.

If he is still a criminal, Naruto and Sasuke (and maybe Kabuto) had years to subdue him. Furthermore... with Naruto's sage mode, he should have no problem locating Orochimaru.

Naruto/Kakashi never said that they believe Orochimaru is personally responsible for the Sharingan Kid's actions... they just believe that the kid is one of Orochimaru's experiments. The kid could have been created years ago, back when Orochimaru was first experimenting with the Sharingan. They probably want to ask Orochimaru if he knows anything about the kid (origins, motives, etc.).

The fact that Naruto knows Orochimaru's whereabouts actually suggests that Orochimaru is no longer a villain (and probably no longer performs human experiments).

Contrary to people complaining about the "stupid" plot lines in this Gaiden, I think it's handling a lot of the stuff that was never wrapped up;

1. We obviously needed more answers about Sasuke/Sakura's relationship, which happened entirely offscreen. Sarada's arc is perfect for this, and her character is interesting so far.

2. We had no idea what Orochimaru's intentions were after the war... he was freed from the Infinite Tsukuyomi and then was gone.

3. We didn't get a good glimpse of Hokage Naruto in Ch.700... he didn't seem at all like himself; he was either angry or calm, but wasn't very "Naruto-like." Now it seems we'll get to see him do more than just discipline Boruto and sign documents, which is great.

I think this Gaiden will really help give proper closure to the series; for a series as painfully drawn-out as Naruto, the "ending" in Ch.699-700 was horribly unsatisfying.

I'm just going out on a limb here and saying (theory), Orochimaru told Tsunade that he had no intentions to hurt or harm the leaf village again, and that he was following Sasuke; maybe intead of "Evil" he has been a "Chaotic Neutral" this whole time.

He might be working with the villiage; hence why Naruto and Sasuke know his whereabouts, by helping to discover new jutsus and perfect others. His experiments could now be performed on White Zetsu's, as we saw he used them to Edo the Hokage, so there would be no kidnappings.

Maybe this experiment just happened to go a little awry. And found some evidence of the uchiha, and the happenings of the events leading up to the war. One seeks a purpose.

Who said Naruto can locate evil over all distances? Who says Orochimaru is outright malignant and not just amoral? Who says Orochimaru would be easy to subdue when he most likely has access to his OWN sage mode now?

You're making negative assumptions without even knowing why things are the way they are. There must be reasons behind things that haven't been revealed.

Yamato was watching oro, now I thought oro had to switch bodies every so often before they failed him but maybe he fund a work around and with that in mind, its also possible he has been conducting benign experiments instead of his old ones. He is also super old at this point, putting him under the watch of yamato should be sufficient especially because there are probably a whole squad of anbu there as well. I dont think oro wants to do anything rash at his point and i dont think he is strong enough anymore to overpower yamato.

This uchiha thing is not likely to be an experiment of oro because we already saw that there was a cloaked akatsuki guy and unless that was oro, which it shouldnt be, then oro is not behind this, instead its that cloaked guy.
