According to what I've read, the only reason why they've been released so fast (once a year since AC2) is because they wanted to beat the actual date of the 2012 prediction in real life and so AC3 will be the essential end of all of that hype of the last few games. So apparently after that they're no longer releasing the games as regularly. T_T But that also suggests that there's more stuff planned, so you have your good and bad news.

Anyone else thinking that since this is going to be centered around Desmond's destiny or whatever we might be getting a new outside-of-animus protagonist eventually? o.o I feel a completely new start coming on.

AC is more about the story so you can think of it like this

I could see it being set in like a England kind of place because there is a lot of large type buildings that you could clime. Imagine doing a leap of faith off of the Eiffel Tower.

it has to be a different place and a different story and different character

Nope...the story will remain same with Desmond, as I've said with the 3 assumptions I have we will either experience the story further with Desmond (judging by the ending of Rev.), unless they put us back in the animus and we see either Ezio son, or a new character of some sort, which will still follow the story like Ezio did with Altair and how they both connect to Desmond, so will the third characters.

Judging from the ending of Rev. it maybe possible, or we may have a spilt, but a more adventurous side of Desmond.
