[Discussion] ASL=Guan Yu/Zhang Fei/Liu Bei

I don't know if anyone's said this but I haven't come across it so I'm putting it out there.

I was watching the Sabo special episode and realized something for the first time at the sake cup exchange scene. When the 3 of them exchange sake cups and become brothers they show cherry blossom leafs blow by. That's like when Guan Yu, Zhang Fei and Liu Bei swore an oath and became brothers under the cherry blossoms. Since Ace died first I would say he's Guan Yu, plus when they were all alive he was always portrayed as the strongest. Luffy would be Zhang Fei for his fighting abilities. Sabo would be Liu Bei for the way he cares about the common people.

What do you guys think? Think they sound similar? Agree with the representations or would you say Luffy is Guan Yu and Ace is Zhang Fei?

You don't know the story of Guan Yu, Liu Bei and Zhang Fei from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms? Based on the real life ruler and soldiers of the Shu dynasty? Guan Yu is recognized as a battle diety in China for the legend he left during the Warring States Period. You should read the story, or play Dynasty Warriors or watch some of the movies(Red Cliff is one I'm pretty sure) if you want a general idea with some liberties taken. They were around with Cao Cao and Sun Jian, the Wu/Wei/Shu fighting for control of China until Sima Yi unified it under the Jin Dynasty.

Guan Yu and Zhang Fei were warriors during the Warring States Period of Chinese history where Wu,Wei and Shu fought to unify China, Liu Bei was their leader and the head of the Shu Dynasty at the time. The three main leaders of Wu,Wei and Shu were Sun Jian(descendant of Sun Tzu the author of the Art of War) Cao Cao and Liu Bei respectively. Guan Yu is/was viewed as a fighting diety in China for the legend he left during this era. Zhang Fei was said to be equal to 1000 men. Liu Bei was viewed among the three as the leader for the common class citizens. You should definitely check it out it's a good story and wait until you find out about Lu Bu and his mythos.
