what is the difference between these two structures, if there is any? i mean let's say i'm saying, for instance,

''les roses sont-elles petites?"

and

''sont les roses petites?"

whats the game changer

Well, "sont les roses petites?" is wrong. You have to add in "Est-ce que", and restructure it so that it's "Est-ce que les roses sont petites?".

"Les roses sont-elles petites?" is the same thing as the first one, but a bit awkward for common use IMO. Stick with the first one.

The second one is not awkward, just clumsy.

In French, it's acceptable to turn a statement into a question by adding a question mark to the statement:

«Les roses sont petites ?»

If you want to me to go over the ways of asking questions, just say so.
