What's badass about Naruto and his Sage Mode when he first appeared was him one shoting one of the paths that headed in Tsunade's direction when he was so far away from them is badass.

I liked part 1 Naruto for the most part until he was all up in Sasuke's business.

I feel that it was sorta meh when it became about him and peace, and the obsession with Sasuke.

Im with you. I freaking loved part 1 Naruto. While his naïve, doofus personality kind of annoys me on Shippuden, it was really captivating as a 12 years old. And SM Naruto was the first time I was like: "damn. Naruto is badass!"
