Hi, Articuno here, with a small theory for you guys. I'll try to keep it as short as possible, so I'll get straight to the point.

An effective counter to Genjutsu techniques, is to have a partner of yours , as stated by Jiraiya. I don't think this couter has ever bee shown failing, the only possibility of that happening being when fighting someone who has mastered the Tsukuyomi, since the partner wouldn't have time to react quickly enough

Now, the fighting style of Kisame, Kakuzu and the Aburame clan mainly revolve around fighting alongside beings that all are able to use chakra. Kisame has , Kakuzu has his , and the Aburame clan's speciality is using to fight alongside them in battle.

All of these have show the ability to be able to use or affect chakra in one way or another. Samehada was able to from opponents and it into Kisame's body in order to raise his stamina and heal injuries, Kakuzu's masks were able to use ninjutsu , and the bugs are able to .

Now, since it has already been established that all these can disrupt the chakra flow of their partner, Samehada by giving Kisame some of the chakra stored in her, Kakuzu's masks since they can disrupt his chakra with their own when touching him or when inside him, and the Aburame clan's bugs by eating their owner's chakra.

Genjutsu often paralyses the opponent, or affects his senses in some other ways, but the fact is that Samehada, the masks and the bugs would not get caught in the Genjutsu along with their master. Samehada has been shown to have her own personality, as seen when she decided to , Kakuzu's masks have been shown to be able to stay active even when he himself is , and the fact that the bugs are alive beings shoul be enough prove of them not being affected if their master gets caught in a Genjutsu.

Now, since Samehada, the Masks and the Bugs are all able to move on their own, even when their owner is immobile, and since they can all affect chakra in one way or another, I see no reason why they wouldn't be able to release their master out of a Genjutsu, if he/she gets caught in one. If I'm wrong about this, please let me know, all comments are appreciated :D

I'm sorry if this has been done before, I just had the urge to make some kind of a thread, and felt that this was a good one. xd If it has been posted before, I apologize

They give you a means of escaping Genjutsu, yes, but they don't grant immunity. That suggests the person can't be caught in the first place.

Well, you're probably right about that, should have rephrased that...

How come ? Samehada has shown the ability to take and give chakra, and it can move independently, why shouldn't it be able to disrupt the chakra of Kisame/Other wielders?

To give chakra, it has to take it before, so if it didn't take chakra before being cast in a genjutsu, how is that usefull? Furthermore, Samehada still has to recognise if Kisame is put in a genjutsu before even trying to disrupt his chakra, something that Samehada which has no consciousness couldn't recognise at all. It only works for people with high chakra and it's even capable of betraying his user like we've seen in the fight against Bee. So there are too many things which tell me that Samehada won't be that useful against genjutsus. Bee was caught in Itachi's genjutsu for example while holding Samehada, but it did nothing

Disrupting Chakra just means changing the flow of it. It can be done by taking or giving chakra to the user, both disrupt the regular flow of the user's chakra. Not to mention that Samehada likely has some chakra stored into it, since the chakra it has already absorbed in the past would't just disappear. Either way, it should certainly be capable of freeing it's user from Genjutsu.

However, you do have a point in her needing to be aware of the fact that the user is caught in a Genjutsu. That's probably the reason she didn't free Bee, although the fact that they had been together for such short time, while Samehada and Kisame had years of experience together. However, I must disagree with her having no consciousness. She can , and can decide what she likes and dislikes, as show when Kisame fought Bee. That doesn't seem like plain metal without a consciousness to me.

Nicely done once again. Another thing to note is that Kakuzu and the Aburama have a chance to effectively take down genjutsu users....as they could simply walk into the genjutsu and attack with their respective abilities while the genjutsu user concentrates on the technique (for example Kurenai seemed to have to maintain her hand sign while in the genjutsu...sharingan users require eye contact).

Great work.
